Hello all,

Josh and I took some time to talk about the Knight Foundation proposal process and how we'll be handling it on g.d.o.

The proposed solution is to create a proposal content type and enable the appropriate fields (what fields do we need?, more below) and enable a five star rating system on the content type. In addition to the content type, updates to organic groups are coming to g.d.o and we'll have the ability to maintain a homepage and put up relevant information. Between Josh and Moshe we hope that this will be active within two weeks.

Just as a quick overview, here's the process we came up with at the BoF:
* Submit an idea to the g.d.o site
* Community discusses, suggests, and votes on a particular proposal
* Once a proposal reaches a certain threshold (TBD) it will be moved to a queue for detailed review
* Reviewers will help entrants tweak their proposal so that it meets the requirements of the contest
* Reviewers will recommend qualifying proposals to the Knight Foundation

A few people have already committed themselves to this project, a short thanks and friendly reminder to those individuals before detailing how others can help out.

Excited about the competition? Want to help?
Before we kick off, we need to get ready, lets start discussing the following:

*What fields do we want for the proposals?, I'd suggest at least:
** 5star rating
** title
** body
** ???more
I'm not sure what the best format is for a proposal, so lets talk about it. Should we include a field for entrants to include their proposed budget, or should that come later in the process? Should the timeline of the project be part of the initial g.d.o proposal? My personal opinion is that we should accept proposals as ideas but without the finer details, and require that information upon promotion to the review stage. I'll say it again, "Tell us what you think!"

How else can you help?
* Participate in this discussion, let us know your opinions and reasons for them.
* Write text for the g.d.o site, we need well written promo text that explains the goals and requirements in a simple manner.
* Artists should feel free to create imagery to be used to advertise the competition and to be used on g.d.o homepage.

And always, give us your suggestions. If you don't speak up, we might miss a great opportunity.

We had a very successful BoF on Wednesday. The goal was to discusss how the Drupal community would manage our relationship with the Knight Foundation.

For those who were not at DrupalCON, here are the basics:
