TSHA considering Drupal for major site redesign
The Texas State Historical Association, a nonprofit educational organization which recently moved from Austin to Denton (on the UNT campus), is preparing to rebuild their large website which consists of over 200,000 pages, and is visited by millions of people every year. The largest part of the job will be rebuilding the Handbook of Texas Online, which consists of over 25,000 articles on people, places, events, historical themes, institutions, and a host of other topic categories.

Hi all,
I can see there are a lot of activity around the WYSIWYG concept.
However, the support for wikitext format is poor, I noticed an experimental FCKeditor for mediawiki.
But this sounds quite experimental, and not that easy to adapt for drupal.
Before going further in my investigation, I was wondering what would be the best approach to get a wysiwyg editor for wikitext on Drupal (even if this does not cover 100% of wikitext)
Any information will be appreciated,

Hey all,
I come from a wiki development background. have been involved in wiki communities and circles for a while now.
I have struggled with both Liquid and Wikitools in Drupal since Drupal 4.7, and have come to the conclusion that the problem is with Freelinking.
When I first used freelinking, I loved it. But, as I tried to customize and add functionality onto wiki in Drupal, Freelinking, and specifically the way that Freelinking makes links, has become a real bane to me in constructing wiki in Drupal.
Read moreWiki Templates (or mimicking Wikipedia functionality)
There's a neat feature on Wikipedia pages where pages are related, they have a template at the bottom of the page with links to all of the relevant nodes.
For example, the Linkin Park entry will have a template at the bottom that has links to all their members pages, singles and albums, etc. This template is editable and when you make changes to it, it gets updated across all the pages that use it.
Seems like a great idea, and I'd love to implement something similar in a Drupal wiki. Does anyone know if it's possible using existing modules?
Read moreEdit Link for Wiki Pages
I'm building a community site for the Public Librarians and I was wondering how on Wiki Pages, the Edit link is added on Drupal Groups.
It's the link just under the Title that says, "You are viewing a wiki page. You are welcome..." Then depending on whether you're already a member of the Group, the link either goes to edit the page or join the group.
How nice.
Does anyone know how this was done? Is it something added to the theme template? I'm trying to figure out how it's done!
Any help would be appreciated.
Read moreMore effective tracking of wiki pages
Possibly, I'm missing something, but within the current options available via the "Recent" tab, it is difficult to keep track of wiki pages, as the posts on the various tabs (My Recent, My Unread, Recent Posts) are sorted by most recent comment date. So, when a wiki page is created, even if it is continuously updated for 48 hours, it will sink off the top page over time, as new posts come in and receive comments.
My proposal: Add a 4th tab: Wiki Pages - this page will show all wiki pages in groups where the logged in user is a member, sorted by Created/Updated date.
Read moreDo we need Mediawiki syntax when we have WYSIWYG editors?
After spending/wasting a lot of time this weekend trying to get a functioning wiki built using a combination of wikitools, pearwiki filter and freelinks module (in combination with TinyMCE).
I ran into a hell of a lot of problems trying to implement the PEARWiki filter in conjunction with Wikitools and TinyMCE and in the end I just gave up completely!

I'm just wondering how to import mediawiki XML and turning it into a wikitools drupal system. This should theoretically be simple, but I'm not sure where to begin.
Read moreNew wiki set up. Do you want to use it?
Forgetting that Drupal for Labor had wiki node types already set up, I set up a Mediawiki wiki at http://wiki.drupalforlabor.org. I'm not sure how useful it will be or if it's even needed. I'm going to experiment with it just because I'd like to gain more familiarity with the different communication possibilities wikis open up.
But it's there if you want to use. If you have any ideas for how it might be beneficial, let everyone know what you're thinking, please.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. I'm just trying to figure out how can I insert line "You are viewing a wiki page. You are welcome to edit it. Be bold!" on every Wiki page automatically?
I'm implementing Wiki content on my site and can't figure out how the line gets inserted at the top of the page.
Thanks for your input.
