markers

I'm using the GMap + Location modules to generate my map and I have the marker type set to numbers. How are the numbers being assigned to the nodes when I'm creating a map using views?

I want to be able to assign a specific number to a specific node/location.

How would I do this?

I guess I could create set it using taxonomy and assigning a number value to each node, but it seems like there's a better way to do this.

I created mapping module just thought I would let the group know about. GMap Extra Markers allows you to combine the markers from multiple views onto map created by GMap. I created it because wanted to show the different content types on the same map and each type need its own filtering (causing the need for multiple views). Each view can have its own marker. Right now it is only for Drupal 5 but if there is interest I will upgrade it to Drupal 5.

Does any one know of way to produce a map with dynamic text based markers (labeled markers)?

Here is an example of a static map that show what I would like to achieve.

That way people can just look at the map and not have to individually click on each marker to see the contents.
