Need help for maps showing large numbers of records
I'm pulling together a site which needs to have maps that display a couple of thousand records. The current solution uses Getlocations/Views with Google Maps as the back end; it works fine up to about 100 records (see attached screenshot) but then slows down and falls over as numbers are increased.
Does anybody have useful experience in this area? I'm happy to consider consultancy fees; less happy to speak with agencies.
Read moreGmaps with circles denoting quantities
I'd like to modify the default User Locations so as to avoid any user addresses being given away. I realise I can prevent zooming, but still results in too much information being given out.
One thing I saw years ago was using maps with quantities centred on UK postcodes (although could be cities, countries, etc.) with a bigger diameter circle meaning more people were based there. You had to draw the biggest circles first, but it looked really good and gives a great view of where your members are based without given much away about their actual location.

Any of you able to match IP address to City in China with modules such as geouser?
Hey all of you in China...
I thought this might be the best way to start a discussion on our websites in China being able to find a user's location. I have seen many sites in China such as websites with classifieds, real-estate, etc. that automatically know that you are in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, etc. However, with Drupal, I have never been successful at doing so.

Hello!
I am building a travel site; I am importing data from a hotel services provider through csv, and I have longitude and latitude fields for each article.
I wonder which is the simple way to provide map block for each hotel page, using the longitude and latitude fields.
Thank you very much!

Heya all,
I would really appreciate a quick tutorial on how to build a generic Openlayers (2.x) block that will only display the location for the node (page) it is displayed in. Ideally this block will also center on that location.
I am using the Location Module and have successfully created an Openlayers Module map View (rendered via Cloudmade as page and also block) that displays locations filtered by content type.
The next step is to just display one of these locations dynamically (based upon location data available in the currently viewed node) ..?

Hello all,
I'm building a website where there will be locations attached to nodes through CCK.
I would like to offer the possibility to the visitor to find a node with a keyword(like the default search) BUT ALSO with a city name to narrow the search (like the Location Search).
I browsed the drupal modules but none of them allow me to do that.
It's either find a location or find a keyword in a node, but not the mix of them.
How can I achieve that ? Any idea ?
Read moreI can't disable map zooming when inserting it into a View
Hello,
I've inserted a GMAP macro into a view but I can't manage to disable the mouse zooming. I've tried to disable it at admin/settings/gmap but it doesn't work with all the maps that I have placed into a GMAP View.
I really need to disable it, since the map has the same widht than the screen, so when someone wants to scroll down with the mouse, it makes a Zoom instead, which is really annoying and not user-friendly.
Thanks
Read moreMultiple Loctions Displayed on Single Map
Dear All
I'm looking to recreate Google Map functionality I wrote for my site (http://www.racekites.com/locations/locations.asp) in asp using Drupal.
I have the modules installed and can display a single location to a single map.
Is it possible to send multiple (500+) locations to a single map using the standard GMap module ?
How can this be achieved ?
Cheers

Dynamic labeled markers on a map?
Does any one know of way to produce a map with dynamic text based markers (labeled markers)?
Here is an example of a static map that show what I would like to achieve.
That way people can just look at the map and not have to individually click on each marker to see the contents.
Thanks for your help,
-Glenn
I have used location and gmap modules to produce a mapping site before, but all the markers are all the same.
