E-learning portal for Palestine...A 4 year project
Dear all,
The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher and Education has started the process of implementing a humongous 4 year e-learning project covering private, UN and last but not least public schools in Palestine. We are now reviewing options for a strong and stable platform for ELMS, CMS and WBT; where teacher/student usability, interface and interactivity are the top priorities for us.
Appreciate your feedback, on the pros and cons of Drupal for such a task as well as assistance on certain modules that prove themseleves and can make our efforts a success.
Tutoring module on Drupal
I have converted the chatroom module to something that would be useful for chatting about math, physics, and possibly other disciplines. It utilizes the following drupal / 3rd party code. I made an announcement on the chatroom site since the maintainer asked me to but I thought this might be a more appropriate place. Currently I have modified existing modules to utilize these technologies :

An IRC channel for elearning-related Drupal projects
I have created #drupal-elearning - a channel for elearning-related projects. I hope this channel will see more traffic than channels focused on single projects. Welcome in! :) Druplicon is (hopefully) on it's way.
Announcing Certify - a module for awarding PDF certificates in online courses
Certify is a new module for awarding and generating PDF certificates to students based on a set of criterias. Currently supports quizzes from the quiz module and book pages from the book module.
The module require Quiz v4+, Book and pdftk installed on the web server.
It does not have a release yet (it's still rough around the edges and not recommended for production), but has working code in CVS. So feel free to try it out, file issues or submit patches. :)
where is the conversation now?
There has not been an on topic thread started here since 2007. Where is the current conversation about moodle and other course management and drupal stuff? Maybe there is another group?

Integration of Elgg, Drupal, Moodle, and Mediawiki
This has been in the works for a while, but now it’s official: http://openacademic.org
This is an open source project designed to integrate Elgg, Drupal, Moodle, and Mediawiki. All code that fuels the integration will be released back to the community.
The project is a collaborative venture between the Elgg team and FunnyMonkey.
In the next few weeks, we’ll be building out the infrastructure to support the project, including a development site to centralize the integration discussions and coding, as well as a svn repository for the codebase.
Integration with LDAP
There are several discussions about integration of Drupal, Moodle, Elgg, aTutor and so on.
The questions:
- Is there a common user database?
- Which software is integrated in which (Drupal in Moddle or Moodle in Drupal)?
- Is this a real integration or only a synchronisation of user accounts?
- Which version works which version?
The current solutions are very version specific and specialized. A huge disadvantage is, that they are not using a common user database: They are only synchronising the user accounts.
As it doesn't make sense to integrate Drupal into Moodle, the question (not only Moodle specific) is: "How do I integrate other web-applications into Drupal?". In fact: "How do I use the Drupal user database from outside?".
Moodle and Elgg integration code released!
You can read some more information here
Moodle 1.6 + Elgg 0.6 = what do you think about that ;)?
Which way would you prefer to have some eLearning in Drupal?

There is something in the air... DIPortal at the Humboldt State University...
Some fresh news from Michael Penney about Drupal and Moodle integration for the Humboldt State University.
It is really interesting...
Michael Penney wrote at the Moodle Forum:
DlPortal: Drupal/Moodle distance education portal.
Right now there is just a powerpoint, the interesting stuff about integration and features added starts about slide 20. We'll have demo accounts set up pretty soon, and will also publish the documentation from the process in the next few weeks.
Anybody has some success story about integration of Moodle and Drupal?
Anybody has some success story about integration of Moodle and Drupal?
There is module for drupal and moodle for one sign-in, but maybe somebody went further?
Please comment it.
Main Idea
Anybody has the similiar idea?
Integration of Civicspaces + Moodle + Elgg + new Drupal modules.(without LDAP)
- Moodle, Drupal, Civicrm, Civicspace and Elgg working together with priority for Drupal as main framework.
- Moodle, Civicrm, Elgg and Civiclabs working as modules at the Drupal with rich possibilities for customizing settings.
2.1. Moodle integration (for example):
- settings of Moodle in drupal/administer/modules.
- Layout template (CSS) for Moodle and Drupal with keeping specific interface for Drupal and Moodle
- Rebuilding user.module from drupal for some specific information from Moodle, for example: enrolled courses, pm, teacher or student, last login, information from Moodle/gradebook module etc.
