I'm looking for Developers that want to be part of the 1st Social Innovation Camp in Australia. If you have followed the Social Innovation Camp in the UK you will be familiar with how it works. You get and idea and as a group you build a site that address the social need that this idea is trying to address - This happens throughout a weekend. This will be in March 5th-7th 2010 in Sydney and applications are open now.
For the ones that came to the latest meetup in Sydney, you were able to see the site http://asix.org.au that I developed for the social Innovation Camp. I am helping with the organisation of the event and being a drupaller myself I'd like to see as many drupallers there as possible. All you need to do is apply to be there
You can also start browsing the different ideas. Some examples include a site to help connect homeless people with people that can offer provisional accommodation, a site to help disadvantaged people get work experience and some that are beginning to use open government data.
If you want to see how you can use your development skills to have a positive impact on others the this is a great opportunity to do it. I can tell you from my own experience that it is a great feeling when I can see a site having a great impact in a community. I have been involved with other drupal sites like http://www.nabuur.com and http://www.cancerconnections.com.au
We also secured the UNSW CBD campus building as a venue. I went to check it myself the other day and tested the new wireless network they set up. They won the venue of the year award last year so it will also be great to spend a weekend there. Catering will also be provided. So apply now if you want to be there.
Feel free to contact me or comment here if you have any questions.

Infoxchange
Not sure if we can make it up to Sydney for the event, but we'd like to be involved somehow. Infoxchange is using a lot of Drupal these days, and some of the ideas mentioned above are projects that we've either completed, or are working on (or awaiting funding approval... :-) )
Melbourne
Hi Emit,
I was actually in Melbourne last week at your premises running a meetup. I have been in contact with one of your communications persons to see how we can continue collaborating. At the stage, if you know any Sydney based developers that would be keen to be part of the camp just let them know about us :)

Heya - yeah I heard you were there, I'm sorry I missed you and the group. Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet sometime.
