Marketing Debrief of Drupalcon San Francisco
DrupalCon Communications Love.
This year I took on the role of communications manager for DruapalCon San Francisco 2010. We wanted a lot of people to come and feel the Drupal love at the Moscone Center in Downtown San Francisco. We accomplished that goal. San Francisco was the largest crowd of Drupal people in one place at one time yet. Marketing played a part in that.
Process:
The communications strategy had a few elements to it. I tried to keep the channels simple and focused on areas which produced results. So the here are the main areas I focused on:
Session Proposals are Open
The San Francisco Drupalcon organizing team is happy to announce that we have opened the sessions submissions process.
The session submission and voting schedule is:
January 15 2010 to February 15 2010 - Open Session Submissions.
February 16, 2010 - March 01, 2010 - Public Voting on Submissions.
March 5th 2010 - Speakers Notified
March 15th 2010 - Final Schedule Posted

Happy New Year!!
2010 is going to be great year for the San Francisco Drupal Users Group!!
First of all there has been a major upgrade to the Parisoma facility. We have reconfigured the space, painted and best of all we have gotten a professional AV system with killer projector, very large screen sound system, and more so be sure to come on down and check it out.
Drupalcon is coming to San Francisco April 19th to 21st we will go over what we are looking for and how you can help make this the best Drupalcon to date.

Last SFDUG of the year and we have a an awesome lineup of really cool Drupal Topics. For the Showcase site - Jon Luini from Chime Interactive is going to show off the brand new Ben Harper websitewhich has some really cool features, like a custom built ajax framework and great integration with Facebook using Dave Cohens Drupal / Facebook module. Dave Cohen will present with Jon to show off the integration of Facebook in a live site. Ben Harpers Facebook page has 844,432 fans.

Proposal Wrapup + Next Steps Meeting
Thank you everyone for all your hard work in getting the proposal + website on the scene. It is going to be a fabulous event and we will just cross our fingers that the Drupal Association blesses us with the conference. Next Drupalcon SF Planning Meeting - Wednesady 4/29 7-9pm @ Chapter Three
The next meeting of the Drupalcon SF Planning committee will be on Wednesday, April 29th from 7pm to 9pm at the Chapter Three office (2325 3rd Street, Suite 319, SF) which is accessible by bicycle or public transit (BART to 16th -> 22 Bus to 20th/3rd). We should have a themed website + twitter campaign + sponorship package + idea on programming + clear logistics model and can spend the time running through the working areas and breaking up into working groups to assign tasks and get it all moving.

I just want to let everyone know that the Drupalcon SF 2010 proposal website has been designed by the very wonderful Nica Lorber (http://www.chapterthree.com) and illustration illusionist Julian Honore (http://p4rse.com/). The website will serve as a hub for our efforts to solicit feedback and promote the conference to first the Drupal Association, and then to attendees and sponsors.
