With Christmas coming up fast, I thought it would be nice for the Drupal community in Melbourne and surrounding areas to get together and have a Christmas dinner/BBQ/lunch/what ever else we can think about.
I know we haven't done this before and since the Drupal community is starting to get a bit of traction here in Melbourne and even the rest of Australia I thought it would be good for us to do something outside the usual meetups. Also there are a lot of us who are contractors or small businesses so this will most likely be thought of as our company Christmas party.
I know we could do this in place of the December Meetup but I think that 14th December is getting a bit too late and at this stage we are all in the silly season and may not be able to make it.
I was thinking that we could do this 1 night during the week late in November, like the 23rd or the 30th, but I am open to suggestions.
Also we would need ideas on where to go, I think something in the CBD or surrounding areas maybe the best and the most central location, but people may have other ideas.
Lets see if we can make this happen.

Hi,
I'd be interested in coming down to meet some Drupal people. I work from home so having a Christmas party is ideal for me in lieu of a company one :). I'd even come some time in December if it works for other people. :)

While it sounds like a great idea, timing isn't so good as it falls on my wife's due date, and any time close (before and after) is pretty much out of the question.

It sounds great, except OSDC starts on the 24th, so the 23rd is out for me.

I'd love to catch up only I'm out and about working in the city on Mon, Wed & Fri which is why I barely make it to the Drupal meetups on Tues. I think it would be a great idea though and will come if I can. Weekends are generally out for me.

I haven't forgotten about
I haven't forgotten about this, and I was just waiting to see the responses.
I am thinking that the week of the 29th Nov to 3rd Dec would work best for most people, and either a Monday or a Tuesday (but some people wouldn't be able to make it on the Tuesday).
I think the next thing is ideas on where we could have this.
