Plans for Gallery2 Integration in 2008

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

I think we made a nice step forward with the release of 5.x-2.x in November 2007. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. I cant provide a schedule for gallery module, but I can give you an overview of things I plan to tackle in the next months.

BTW: There are still (almost) no people helping out with documentation and support. Dozens of sites are running G2 with Drupal, but it looks like nobody really feels connected to the spirit of the community enough to contribute :(

  1. Solve CSS/JS issues with Gallery 2.3(-svn) and gallery module 6.x-1.x-dev, and fix other major issues, i.e. broken i18n support. Getting these things done and the release of a stable Drupal 6 version of gallery module have highest priority. (The internal design of the 6.x-1.x series allows implementation of many exciting new features without changes to the existing code.)
  2. Work on tighter integration of Gallery2 with Drupal 6, aka GalleryAddon package. The attached document (see below) contains more information about this.

Cheers, Thilo

What about the Gallery folks? Their site uses Drupal. Aren't they interested in helping out with this?

I use it but only on a 4.7 site and there's not really anything to document there. This summer I'll be porting that site to 6.x. If there's any documenting left at that point I can help out.

Thilo,

I'm sorry you're not getting more actual/physical support for Gallery2 integration. This is a subject I have followed with great interest for the past 1-2 years, and have wanted to jump in, but I'm so buried right now with my REAL work and supporting strategic planning for my public school system.

My technical skills are rusty enough I think I couldn't help much in that department, but I might be able to squeeze in a little user perspective (documentation or otherwise) if that would help. I would need guidance and prodding, but it might be helpful.

Let me know what you think.
Erik
