It's been brought to my attention (Thanks Tom) that this might actually be read if I didn't post it to a thread marked Cancelled, thus the repost.
I posted yesterday about the CNJ and NNJ groups holding occasional joint meetups. My post received some positive response so here goes...
I think the first order of business is to get a consensus on where to hold a joint meetup.
It seems like we have three options:
1.
Meet some place (TBD) in the middle
2.
Meet at the regular meeting place of CNJ
3.
Meet at the regular meeting place of NNJ
If anyone can think of other options that I have not thought of please chime in.
I would really like to see this happen and am willing to put the effort in to make it so.

Regarding meeting at the regular CNJ place: If we were to meet here, we can probably accommodate. Our facility has lots of parking after hours, and we have various rooms on campus. The room we normally use might not be comfortable for more than 15 or so, but we have larger rooms. Should we use a different room, I probably need to discuss that with people here, so it would be good to figure out an expected head count.
...are there any specific issues? I don't know what the NNJ meetups are like. Do you guys have food/drink? Are there people with any special needs?
I've regularly had the intent
I've regularly had the intent to go to the NNJ one, but the actual will to make the trek can be lacking when the night arrives.
However I think if we highlight some as special/joint that would encourage us to make extra effort, and perhaps to realize that doing it more often is feasible.
So, in that vein, I suggest we plan to have a couple "joint" ones relatively soon, and have one at the usual CNJ location and one at the usual NNJ location. So I vote for #2 & #3.
While meeting someplace in
While meeting someplace in between is logical and fair, it may not be practical.
I echo pwolanin's comments: #2 and #3. First we meet at CNJ location, then we meet at NNJ location.
If we decide to meet on a regular basis, it may not be feasible to do so monthly. We may want to consider meeting perhaps quarterly or three times a year.
If we decide not to meet regularly, then we could just have ad hoc meetings on a more dynamic basis.
We both seem to share an interest in discussing Drupal 7. Perhaps we could work something around that.
Also we could use such joint meetings to organize the first NJ DrupalCamp.
Where we meet...
Where we meet is not as important to me and the fact that we do meet.
So for those on the fence, I'd be willing to carpool. If your thinking about this, and transportation is your question-mark, I'd be happy to pick one or two people up, and drive them there and back.
Fellow CNJ and NNJ members please chime in, lets make this happen!
Video Conference Possible?
Hi,
The Central NJ location isn't possible for me to go to on a regular basis without a carpool option from a train station. Since both happen on College Campuses, is there any option for a video conference "combine" the meetings? Face to face is best, but to collaborate on presentations video conferences are good as well.

We have equipment to video
We have equipment to video conference at IAS. Since it was brought up, there is a train stop at Princeton University. If we organized it ahead of time, I'm sure people can be picked up. (or at Princeton Junction) The station is a very short car ride away. I've walked there.

Lets discuss this at our respective meetups, and assuming enough enthusiasm, return here to put the plans together. NNJ has its meetup this coming Wednesday, delayed because of the snow. Can I use the it's early on a Sunday morning excuse? I don't remember when CNJ holds its meetups.
Personally I'm pumped. Lets make this happen!

We've been doing the 1st Wed of every month. So the next according to that schedule would be <a href="http://groups.drupal.org/node/119624>Feb 2nd. That might be far enough away to make some extra planning possible.

I'll bring it up at this week's delayed NNJ meetup for anyone not following the thread here. In the meantime perhaps we can start putting an agenda together and pick a date.
I would propose that a joint meetup would be a good time to begin discussing a joint DrupalCamp.
Also as suggested by our fearless NNJ organizer TomSherlock anything Drupal 7

I hope for a weekend schedule. +1 on the NJ Drupal camp. I suggest that the place for this joint meet up be accessible. If the CNJ place is near a train station that would be great. Let's make it happen.
Follow-Up
We've discussed this for three meetups, and while there is plenty of enthusiasm for a joint CNJ NNJ Meetup, I have been asked to temporarily table this discussion.
Please stay tuned as this will be re-visited sooner rather than later.
