Would you like to break through and learn Drupal 7 theming? By the end of this one-day course, you'll not only learn the step-by-step process of making a theme, but you'll also understand the system behind it.
The instructor is Marek Sotak (d.o: Sign) of Atomic Ant (Prague/London), and maintainer of the popular administration theme: Root Candy http://drupal.org/project/rootcandy Marek also co-organized the Drupal Design Camp Prague and he fully understands the need to make Drupal's theming system easier to understand.
This is a great opportunity to bag some skills! This is chance to learn more about theming, and also what's new in Drupal 7.

Recording possibilities?
Hello,
I am afraid I won't be able to attend the course, however I am very interested.
I was wondering if there was any chance of recording the course.
I see that the course costs some money, so may be the recording could be also sold.. or slides shared... :p
any chances of getting information about the talk will be welcome.
cheers,
Lorea.
Second the above
Hi Heather,
Thanks for posting this event. I've good experience with themeing in Drupal 6 but have little to no D7 experience,
so this would interest me greatly. As a user of RootCandy, I'd like to see Marek present on the topic also.
Unfortunately, it's a bit short notice and I can't make it. If it were at all possible to record this as Lorea suggested,
for a fee or otherwise that'd be great.
Either way, hope that everyone attending gets something out of it as I'm sure they will.
Thanks,
Paul

Fixed, thanks.
Fixed, thanks.
Hello Lorea and Paul, I don't
Hello Lorea and Paul,
I don't think Marek will be able to record. It's really tough to record live training sessions. It's not all lecture, there's plenty of hands-on too.
Yeah it's pretty spontaneous. I hope people can attend at this short notice. I wanted to encourage Marek to do this, because we know folks in Ireland are looking for more training opportunities.
Thanks, Alan for fixing the title there.

Hi Heather, Will this be
Hi Heather,
Will this be using Drupal Gardens for the themeing?
Thanks,
Orla
Hi Orla, we won't be using
Hi Orla,
we won't be using Drupal Gardens. Instead we will be writing our own code and understanding how the theming layer works on a vanilla Drupal 7 installation.
Thanks sounds great!
Thanks sounds great!
planning on going
...just trying to get babysitters lined up...!
Next time...?
Hi.
This sounds great, I'd be interested but only got word about it last week and can't come unfortunately. Any chance you could let the list know a little earlier next time? I'd really like to come along.
Thanks,
Sean.
Seconded, would almost
Seconded, would almost definitely have attended but for the short notice.
We certainly do want
We certainly do want training, and more of it for Drupal in Ireland.
We had to be spontaneous and at least give this a try. We got the word out as soon as we had a venue. Marek was passing through and was able to give a training that he had delivered in other countries.
We will be making plans for more training and give adequate warning too!
I'm curious, what specific topics would you like training in?
Subject for training
The one I'd like most is the one you've just done, theming Drupal...
Unfortunately I couldn't
Unfortunately I couldn't attend the theming one.. but for instance security training would be good.
Security in different senses like for e-commerces or security for a normal website..
Theming is one area I'm know
Theming is one area I'm know I'm weak so would definitely be interested in that, and with that working with views too.
module development too
i'd like one in writing modiules for D7, starting from no knowledge of D6 modules
thanks!
Thanks Heather for organising and Marek for teaching! Was good to get out and learn a bit and meet a few other Drupal heads
Deployment
Hi Heather,
Deployment and overall Workflow methods of managing and updating a Drupal site. I know things like Git for version control and the Features module were discussed before at the Dublin Drupal Camp (and would be good topics again).
I am talking about things like Aegir, but alternatives to that for seamless deployment. Not everybody can take advantage of a system/tool like that, for reasons such as having shared hosting etc.
Looking forward to the Galway Camp also!
Thanks,
Paul.
