User group meeting

The February meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday February 9th at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.

This month We'll be trying out a new way to show off a demo site. It'll be something like a reverse teardown. Instead of being shown around a site by the person who built it, we're looking for someone to allow someone else to poke around their site and ask questions about why things are built the way they were. We'll see who's willing to put one of their sites up to the test(local or dev environment please) and pick someone else to do the teardown. We've never tried this method of site exploration before, but it was sugested at one of the recent meetings and it should be an interesting and dynamic view of some cool drupal sites.

After site teardowns, we'll get ito some lighting talks...

Lightning talks give anyone (and I mean anyone - you, the person next to you and the one across the room) the chance to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so step up and have fun!

Newcomers are always welcome, bring any of your friends that might be interested in learning about Drupal. We hope to see you on Wednesday at the Balboa Park Hall of Champions.

A couple of us on LiveStream have been enjoying a chat during the meeting. It doesn't make sense for others in the room to join us on LiveStream, though, but I like the idea of having a chat room concurrent to the meetings.

Are enough familiar enough with IRC to meet in a room there? Or, are there other suggestions?

Am I being rude suggesting a chat room during the meeting?
