We are getting very close to launching our OP site for our 125-year-old old weekly newspaper. We are very, very happy with the system. Sure, it's tricky to learn, but it's worth it once the pieces start to click. I'll post some insights and a link to the site when we are ready to share, but I did want to say to those just starting to hang in there! I think you'll be happy you did.

As someone using OpenPublish
As someone using OpenPublish in anger, as it were, how do you find the WYSIWYG editors in OpenPublish? They're a necessity these days but do you find browser performance is acceptable with them?
I have CKEditor installed and
I have CKEditor installed and the performance is still fine.

Using OP
I totally agree that things are not easy, in fact i have been close to giving up frequently.
Main problems are things that do not work correctly on my system, which is a combination of OP and Drupal. I never did get the menu system to work properly and switched to Superfish which works a dream and saves a lot of time creating views.
But I concur that it is worth persevering, I now have a bilingual micro-journal for about 7 - 8000 people that is just taking off.
Messing about in the river
I am about to use Superfish
I am about to use Superfish for my development site simply (an ironic choice of words) because it is easier to establish than the default OP menu. I am also looking forward to the day when OP supports other flavors of Drupal, such as the Acquia version. I first encountered the Acquia backend through Drupal Commons and 'fallen in love' with its intuitive design.
There are many steps that could be taken to, if not ease the steep learning curve, make the journey more palatable for learning Drupal and OpenPublish.
