[GSoC] Willing to participate

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I'm in my second bachelor year at the University of Antwerp studying Computer Science. I have a very strong interest for programming and web development and I've also had my share of Drupal-related coding.

Experiences

I've received excellent grades on all my programming classes at University and am familiar with modern web standards and practices. Over the years I worked a lot with PHP and C ++ and am also quite familiar with javascript (JQuery in particular). I am willing to learn other programming languages if needed (which I doubt is necessary for Drupal).

At the moment I'm developing a social networking site for a class of mine, I've built my own framework inspired by Drupal and Joomla and I think it is a really excellent showcase of my abilities.

Ideas

I don't have anything specific in mind, but last year I developed an e-commerce website powered by Drupal 6 and Ubercart 2 and I implemented some features requested by my employer for which I had to crawl through a lot of Ubercart code and some Drupal code. As I loved both of them my first idea was to help further develop the Drupal Commerce module.

I've already visited the #drupal-contribute channel on IRC and there some people suggested that I could work on drupal.org, dereine suggested that I could maybe work on pull requests (like Github has) or work on node.js integration.

Planning

As I have upcoming exams, I will be able to do some exploratory work during April/May and maybe some small contributions during June. My work in June will depend on how my exams are scheduled. Starting July, I'm all yours!

Well yes, I'm fairly confident that I can combine the two. I have always passed all my classes the first time around, so if I study enough beforehand it will come together nicely. I'm just mentioning it so that you guys know that if I get accepted, that there will be four or five weeks where my progress will be minimal.

Both Ryan Szrama and me are

Both Ryan Szrama and me are very interested in mentoring Drupal Commerce projects this year.
Join as at #drupalcommerce (freenode) and lets talk about it.

Don't worry about june. I had exams almost the whole june last year (I was a gsoc student). Threw in extra time in July and it turned out fine. Pretty much every European student has the "june" problem.
