Would it be possible to alter the layout of the groups.drupal.org/scotland page to use a panels layout? The default 'River of News' layout as is currently implemented is not a great way to see what's going on. As an example, the LA Drupal GDO site uses this already.
I contacted the LA Drupal co-manager @christefano, and he confirms that the LA Drupal site was built with OG Panels. He documented how this was done - both technically and organizationally - during a Drupal Dojo webcast: http://drupaldojo.com/session/organicgroupspanels-gdo (it is an hour long with some flakey audio). I'm not sure whether the Group Organizer would be willing to do this directly, as making changes requires admin rights and some spare time... or whether this is something that should be delegated.
Regardless, what should the homepage look like?
I'd like to see more prominence (distinct panels) for:
- Events
- Discussions
- Jobs
- Recently joined members
Any thoughts??
Rob
(BTW I'm a volunteer to help this re-design, if there is support among the community for change)

I agree
Hi Rob
I agree that we do not use the group page to its fullest and coincidentally I contacted Tane this morning to ask to be added as an organizer for the group so I could look at this and more specifically promoting the Glasgow and Edinburgh meetups and DrupalCamps in in the header area similar to g.d.o/ireland page.
I haven't heard back from him yet but will update you when I do.
Cheers
Duncan
Good to go
Hi Rob
I now have organizer access so can make changes. I have made a few already to promote the events and also to try out the OG pages/panels which was relatively simple with a little google help!
We should organise a Drupal Drinks in Edinburgh soon so this would be something good to discuss there. Would you be able to make it down from Perth?
Cheers
Duncan
We should organise a Drupal
Definitely. We should make it a mini hackfest to get the camp site up!
