And PLENTY of DRUPAL!
Join us at Promethius Consulting promethius.com [Directions Below]
The agenda is not yet set. Please click the title of this post and register as attending so that Tony knows how much grub to get. Also reply to this post and mention what you would like to discuss at the next meeting. One thing that came up last meeting was CCK+VIEWS in Drupal6 !!!! If that's what you want, I'd be happy to do it.
Other suggestions are cool too.
From the interstate:
Take I-465 to the Michigan Road exit (#27)
Turn north at the end of the exit
Turn left at 96th Street (stoplight with McDonalds and car dealerships on corners)
Continue West on 96th Street about a mile
Turn right into Hoosier Village (well marked with lights and signs)
Turn left at the first road (will be before the first stop sign)
Building is slightly off that road, on the right hand side (north side of the street)
Building is two-story, stone building. Sign in front says IAHSA and PC.
Conference room is on the first floor, to the right in the first hallway.
[We will post signs in the Hoosier Village complex.]

I'd be interested in a "Working with images in Drupal" discussion. What modules are best? Best image gallery? How do you train your users to add images to their posts?
Just my two cents.

Good topic
I second this discussion. I think it is an on-going evaluation every time I set up a new site. And very different approaches to doing this.
Image Galleries
I use a program called Slideshow Pro. I absolutely LOVE this program, but you do have to know a little Flash. I have seen the program used on other Drupal sites, so I already know it can be implemented. Here's a sample of it on one of my client sites (not a Drupal site).
http://ajarmstrong.com/pages/slideshow.htm
As I said it is Flash-based, php, database driven program. Once I have set-up the Flash design for my client, it pulls from XML files and they have an administration panel from which they can make updates. Updates include adding albums and galleries, adding, deleting, moving images and descriptions. It's quite nice. It also allows you to add flash animations, audio files, etc... Very robust and the client has all the control from a web browser.
I will be using this program in an upcoming web site for the Central Indiana Boxer (dogs, not fighters) Club.

Can Dog Geek Show Us How?
Greg, do you want to present on how to integrate Slideshow Pro into a Drupal site?
It reminds me of the Moo-Tools powered RokSlideShow popular in Joomla.
If you want to present on this I know I'd love to see it.
I am available to show how to use the GMAIL app as your domains mail handler. I use it for myself AND for one client right now. It involves taking your mail.yourdomain.com and changing it to point to Google. Once you do the whole wonderful world of GMAIL is open to your domains mail. Every address is a valid GTALK ID, Mailing lists, Folders [called labels], Google pages, Widgets, etc.
What do you want to see at the meeting gang?

Slide Show Pro
I haven't actually tried this for Drupal yet. I would say, give me until the next meet-up (in September).

Aaron has a similar set up on our devsite
Aaron has set up a very similar slide show.
Perhaps, if Aaron is coming, he can show us how he did it?

Slide Show
Very "trashy" (but in a good way) slide show!

whataword.org by Tanisha
Tanisha has agreed to present a case study of the site she built for her church.
whataword.org
I like what she did and I have always wanted her to present on it.
What else do we want to discuss?
I don't have much to say about images or image galleries. If someone else does, then that would satisfy the request for those topics.

I look forward to Tanisha's

umm... yeah
That slide show was actually downloaded as a package from a site, and we rented-a-coder for the job.
I could look into it. I think it's all about the references. That slide show will only work on that page. So it's not very flexible....
I can show what I know.

Who's going to get them??
Once the Pro Drupal Development Books start shipping I will be giving those away too!
See you Thursday!

photo galleries
I can talk briefly about the way I set up photo galleries on sites that I build. It's not a perfect solution, but I think that it works pretty well. I use the typical CCK, Imagefield, Imagecache and Views combination. However, I add in Taxonomy and jQuery to make the Views much more gallery-like.
Would anyone be interested in that?

Sounds good to me
I would be very interested in seeing how you tackled what was a horrible issue for me...and still isn't quite as easy as I'd like.

Mike's Coming!
Pleasure to have you join us Mike.
For those of you who don't know: Mike attended the 2nd ever IDUG meeting. It was just Mike and myself at a Panera at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in February. He showed me his taxonomy based gallery then and I look forward to seeing it again!
side note:: The 1st ever meeting was January this year at the Glendale Mall Library; only Kevin Finney and I were there.
See you all on Thursday.

New Drupal User Coming
I'll be attending but I'm a newbie. I've installed Drupal only a few times but looking to start using it on a few projects. I hope to learn a lot.
slides
I created about 20 slides for the photo gallery presentation. It ended up being more information than I anticipated. I uploaded them to Google Docs:

Feel free to look over them in advance if you like. Let me know if this is too much information. We can talk in detail about whichever parts people are interested in.

Great Presentation!
I just went through the slides of your presentation.
I believe that this will be an excellent use of our time for the following reasons.
There's something for every one in this presentation. Grab what you can and we can start a new thread on here to go deeper.
Thank you very much for joining us Mike!

Some more things to talk about?
The group is growing and is growing fast!
I'd like some one with graphics skills to whip up some fliers for our meetings. I'd those of us who can to please post them at Borders, Barnes&Noble, coffee shops, and any place that you see fliers posted.
I have done this a little with our group but it would rock to have more of us hitting the Starbucks near you then just the ones I see.
There may be some heavy Drupal Users in our community who gave up long ago on ever seeing a local group.
We'll talk about it more tonight.
