The April meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday April 13th at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
This month we'll be diving into Drupal's new version control system, git. Our community is buzzing about this new version control system and the distributed nature that sets it apart from the archaic CVS system that was still in use on drupal.org until just a few months ago, or even the still more commonly used SVN. Leading us on our tour of git and it's basic workflow, we have Sam Boyer, the man responsible(with lots of community support!) for moving d.o over to git. We'll be building a presentation based on this discussion so if you're already using git and you have questions, post them here so we can cover that topic. If you're not using git, start now so you know what to ask about when the meeting rolls around.
After we cover git, we'll get into some lighting talks...
Lightning talks give anyone (and I mean anyone - you, the person next to you and the one across the room) the chance to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so step up and have fun!
Newcomers are always welcome, bring any of your friends that might be interested in learning about Drupal. We hope to see you on Wednesday at the Balboa Park Hall of Champions.

Great article on Understanding Git Conceptually
http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/~cduan/technical/git/ is an article that I HIGHLY recommend for those who are trying to grasp what's really going on under the git hood.
