SandCamp mini-conference for museums?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi all,

I originally submitted this through the contact form at sandcamp.org and was encouraged to post it here.

This year I held the first "DrupalCamp for Museums" in Philadelphia, which was basically a full-day workshop at the Museums and the Web conference (see http://www.archimuse.com/conferences/mw.html for details on the conference). I know this is a long shot, but would SandCamp be interested in partnering with Museums and the Web for 2012 to do a more "traditional" DrupalCamp? MW2012 is scheduled for April 11-14 at the Sheraton Marina, different than the date publicized on your website. Perhaps a SandCamp mini-conference targeted specifically to museums, institutions, and non-profits?

Anyway, just wanted to start the conversation, but not sure who to reach out to. Is this something SandCamp would be interested in? Any thoughts / feedback?

Hi RJ -- Good conversation today. Let's continue talking about how we can support two camps in a 10-week space. It'll take serious planning and strategy so that we don't crash our energy and sponsorship support for SandCamp. We broke even this year with only a couple of hundred to spare. Thanks for your time today.

Yeah it was a good

Yeah it was a good conversation. I'll draft up a one page overview of how I picture the two camps working together and post for everyone's feedback. I definitely don't want to distract from SandCamp. :)

That sounds to me like a 1-day or even half-day kind of thing which would be a lot easier to pull off. Is that what you're looking for?

Yes, I picture it as a full-day event, perhaps with a full-day Acquia training session and 1 or 2 tracks. Very simple and light...
