The June meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday June 8th at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
This month we have Rich Yumul talking about mobile site building and design on Drupal 7. Rich will touch on some development tools and packages for Browser/Mobile Detection, and also some theming, analytics and extra tips and tricks for mobile. This should be a great talk that will highlight Drupal's Mobile functionality.
Next, we'll get into some lighting talks...
Lightning talks give anyone (and I mean anyone - you, the person next to you and the one across the room) the chance to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so step up and have fun!
Newcomers are always welcome, bring any of your friends that might be interested in learning about Drupal. We hope to see you on Wednesday at the Balboa Park Hall of Champions.

Two agenda items
If someone can contribute a theming-oriented demo that would be totally awesome. Andy and Susan are talking to Digitaria, but if someone else has anything ready, let us know.
If we have enough Drupal beginners (and perhaps intermediate people) I'd be happy to run through my Drupal Koolaid slides to provide a Drupal overview. This could also serve as talking points for people of any level. For example: WYSIWYG or not.

I am a new attendee, but have just finished a version 1 of a site-crawling/indexing control module which I was going to bring along and have questions about. I'd be happy to walk it through and take questions about the ideas behind it, and it's direction. I presented an Ubercart themeing session at SandCamp this year so there's that too.

Glad I came last night, it was real fun :-) Thanks to you all.
FYI : Device Atlas (deviceatlas.com) and mobiforge.com were a great help to my mobile development, as much as the WURFL which was discussed by Rich (wurfl.sourceforge.net) last night.
I mentioned a good book, not for technical tips and trick, but more for perspective. "Mobile Web Design " by Cameron Moll - paperback.
Will Rich be posting a link to slides from last night here? That would be a nice thing for groups dyt?
Designers are very much needed
So while we riffed a bit last night that design is so passe, I'd like to point out that great design still is part and parcel of a great site. Thanks to Bill Bostick for sticking up for designers and insisting on design and content going hand in hand. But I do stand by my word that static designs are over and designers must come up with elements which can be resized, reflowed and otherwise remixed. In other words, we need smarter design, if anything.

Looking for solutions to Web configuators and calculators
Might not be able to make it for this meeting, but I wanted to join up since we are embracing drupal at work for a website redesign project. On a separate project, I'm looking to get info and names of developers for a web calculator project. I'm not sure the best direction to go at the moment for platform/software, so I hope to get some insight.

RE: July DUG Meeting
First of all, thanks to all for offering help during and after the lightning talk when I needed advice on tearing apart a music social network called Musicolio that was built using Drupal 6. Now since we only got maybe 1% done and ran out of time, I would really appreciate it if you guys can dedicate some time in our next meeting and help me fully tear this site apart. Drupal newbies like myself will be greatly inspired by this type of session (since we also had more technical sessions during the past three months that I've been attending) and I think it'll take my Drupal knowledge to a whole new level.
