I would like to be added as a group Organizer. I apparently need to visit the group page more often because the post about turnout was the first I read about the Utah Drupal Camp.
Last year I made two Out of state trips to California for BADCamp and SANDCamp which I helped facilitate Drupal in a Day training along with Jen Lampton and ChapterThree. I feel a training like this would have been well received.
Also events such as annual camps should be planned with well more than 1 months notice so major companies and other sponsors have an opportunity to both support and attend.
I would like to be added to both the group organizer list as well as events organizer lists for Utah. I'm more than upset at both myself and the committee for lack of preparation for the camp this year.
Sorry to vent like this but other camps should be used as examples for planning events in Utah for example BADCamp was announce a month ago and it's not until October. I don't want this to happen again. I love Drupal and the community and we owe it to all surrounding areas to provide more advanced noticed for future events.
I really would like to have attended today and tomorrow. I may just show up tomorrow to see what it's all about.
I do want to point out that I'm very happy there was a good turnout today but just think of the potential turnout if there was more than 30 days notice of the camp. Food for thought.
I'm really not an asshole I'm just very passionate about Drupal and everything that comes with it.

Your help in the future
I feel I should first respond to your issues with getting the information out. If you look at the Utah group page it lists 20 items (discussions, events, wiki pages, etc) of those 20 items half mention camp or are related to camp. The first was a discussion started about the idea of having a camp in February. We discussed it at the April Utah DUG Meetup. I admit that it was not as widely publicized as it should have been. Much of it was organized by me alone and often asking for help in the group page on groups.drupal.org didn't result in any volunteers. Many of the 10 posts on the Utah group page in groups.drupal.org were calls for help on building the site or organizing the event. I would have loved to have had your help but outside of asking for it in this group I didn't not know of a way to reach out to people like you.
I recognize my failures and vulnerabilities in organizing this event. I know where I failed but not specifically how to do better on some of the problems. We do want to do this again as an annual event and I would love to have your involvement, especially if you know what your doing. This was my first DrupalCamp and I was organizing it. It made for lots of confusion but I didn't have a way to help myself. That is not to down play the help that I did get but I needed a lot more. I've been amazed that we could do this on as little as we have (experience, finance, and understanding or goals).
My venting done. I appreciate the feedback. I'm learning a lot about getting the word out and think the camp has been successful, not as much as it could have but for a first year it has taught the Utah group some about doing this type of event. In the future I'm exited to see the camp explode into large venues with tons more people and still within the budget it gets from sponsors. That will be lead by people who, like you, know more about event planning. My hope is that I can help with that too.

Efforts greatly appreciated
I want to reiterate the fact that it was a lack of visitation to the group page that led to not knowing about the event for sure. I also want to again point out that people such as yourself is exactly what this group needs and I applaud your efforts.
I may not be the end all solution but the contacts I've made at the camps in California consist of folks that organize both camps and the DrupalCon last year and we should definitely tap into that resource as a point of contact for information on making next years camp ROCK!
Susan Rust, Jen Lampton, ChapterThree, and many other individuals I feel would be able to help us in our quest to rock out an amazing camp next year which I feel we could get many sponsors and other Drupal rockstars to present so lets work together.
Contact me directly soon so we can properly introduce ourselves and bring together those around the community to help. I would lI've to see more meetings throughout the next year whether it's a few or many participants we can do so much more as a community than we have in the past and I want to take advantage of this.
Much love for all and unfortunately I wont be able to make camp this year I pledge to work on making this community and our dug meetings happen more often over the coming months and year.
