Howdy Folks,

This January the Growing Venture Solutions team is offering a series of classes designed to take you (or your colleagues...) from newbie to Drupal Rockstar.

The classes start with background information on Drupal and the basics of editing content and administering a site. From there we cover adding more power with various contributed modules. The final class covers theming, module development, security, and performance.

Training Cost and Material Covered

The 12 hours of class over 3 days costs $250 if you sign up in 2008 or $300 for registration in 2009. Without even announcing the class there is already one person signed up...space in the class is limited to 15 people which is pretty likely to sell out, so sign up early.

January 10th: "Introduction to Drupal" - (hint: It's not pronounced droo-PAWL)

  • Installing Drupal, commonly used jargon and design patterns and “gotchas”
  • Publishing Workflow Basics: Content creation, editing, and moderation
  • Module Introduction: Using Markdown for easy text formatting
  • Successfully interacting with the Drupal community (finding the right modules, getting your bugs fixed)

January 17th: Turn Your Site Up to 11 - the most popular core and contributed modules in Drupal

  • Views - Create listings of content without writing code.
  • CCK (Content Construction Kit) - Create custom content types and forms to collect whatever data you need (again, no code needed).
  • Token / Pathauto - Turns those nasty URLs into user friendly search engine friendly strings.
  • Date / Calendar - Build a calendar of events, schedule, or calendar-based archive.
  • Imagefield / Imagecache / ImageAPI - Integrate images into your site in powerful, creative ways.
  • Panels+Views modules to build powerful landing pages

January 24th: Needs More Cowbell - Drupal for Themers, Developers, and Sysadmins

  • Using the powerful PHPTemplate theming engine to alter any and all HTML on a site
  • Module development and the Drupal API
  • Security for Developers and Sysadmins
  • Performance and scalability best practices

Read the details about this class.

For those who are looking for a more advanced class we are working on some advanced theming and module development curriculum which will likely be available later in 2009. To stay informed consider signing up for our newsletter available on the side of the site.

We Want to Teach What You Want to Learn

While we will try to tailor each class to the students participating, we also recognize that some groups have special needs. If you would like us to help develop a more customized training for you or your team, please contact us. See more about our training services.

Thanks!

Update on Growing Venture Solutions training

Just a quick reminder folks: There are now 3 days left for early bird pricing of $250. Once we hit 2009 the price goes up to $300 (which is still a pretty good deal, if I do say so myself). The class is just under half-full at this point with 2 weeks left before the first class. I still fully expect that we will sell out the class (it was announced 2 weeks ago and it's almost half full now with half of the time gone and people tend to sign up for these things at the last minute...).

You can sign up on the Growing Venture Solutions website.

More Training Opportunities for the Non-profit crowd

If you work for a non-profit there is also an event through Teaming for Technology which provides an introduction to Drupal as a site admin. This class will be led by the famous denverdataman.

Thanks and have a great rest of the year!
Greg
