When are there going to be some planning meetings for the 2012 SandCamp?
I haven't heard any news on it and its going to be sneak up on us sooner than you think. It would be great if we could have the site updated with content and completely done a month or two before the camp so that we can market the event.

Yes!
Hey, thanks for the poke. Yes, normally we have SANDcamp planning well underway and we are slow to start this year which is not ideal because we are on display as a candidate for DrupalCon 2013! My new position has me traveling endlessly so I've been amiss in planning anything. A few things that have been completed:

Interested in Volunteering for SANDcamp Planning
Hi Susan-
Two individuals from our company are interested in volunteering for this year's SANDcamp, what would the next steps be?
Thanks!
Margaret Ybarra, Focal55 Inc.
Woo Hoo!
Hi Margaret, that would be wonderful. Can you just plan to have them attend our meetings from the previous post? We'll try to settle on a venue once we know who's participating and then select a central location. Thank you so much. We have a group email that is info@sandcamp.org, we also have a planning.sandcamp.org that is an open atrium but it got killed in the move so we need to load another one up. But soon that will be a central repository for our notes and such. Thanks again and look forward to meeting you and getting to know your team better.

Venue for SANDCamp
Hi.
Do you have a venue? Any interest in holding it at the San Diego Supercomputer Center? If there is interest, I am willing to see if we can get space donated and help drum up some sponsors.

Venue for SANDcamp
John, that is so generous. We have our venue setup through Balboa Park Online Collaborative (BPOC.org) for SANDcamp but could we perhaps take you up on your offer for meetups, maybe some trainings or other Drupal events? We'd love to fraternize more with UCSD, I did a website for the Ethics Center and just met the Performing Arts folks who also have a Drupal site from SageTree Solutions. Between Qualcomm and UCSD, we have the opportunity to create some wonderful technology in San Diego. I'd love to come by and see the space and get to know you and your team. Thanks so much,

No prob.
Susan, no prob. I'm open to all that but my travel schedule is pretty chaotic. I'm in town this week then more or less gone until November. Maybe can connect at the beginning of Nov.

Day of the week preference
I'd love if we could change the Tues night meeting to a Monday night. I'm not sure if that also works better for anyone else.
Dates
Hi Jonathan,
Am on my way back from a long road trip to and from Seattle so it's been a fun and scenic week :). Regarding days, can you make the Sunday meeting? How are SANDcamp group work is that we have the larger planning group which is everyone and then people decide what they want to take on and then meet in smaller groups themselves. Would that be a good solution for you? Say you took on Session Management, you can find a cohort of folks and meet on Mondays and then send someone to represent the group's progress on a Tuesday meeting. Unfortunately, I travel to a lot of camps and tend to be gone Wed-Monday, hence the Tuesday. But I'm open to other days. I was just stating my availability. The group at large may also not be available on Tuesday either and then we'll end up moving it. I just like to plant a flag but the flag can be moved :). Glad you're interested in playing, it's going to be a rocking camp!

Day of week preference
Week days work better for me than the weekend for meeting. I saw Monday and Tuesday mentioned and either would work for me.
With regards to the Sandcamp site build. I feel like we need someone to manage and drive the build. If it is ok with the group I'd like to volunteer to take on that responsibility, but that being said I'd be looking for input and help on the site. I think we really need to get it started this month if that is ok with everyone else?
Great idea Dale. I'd be happy
Great idea Dale. I'd be happy to help with the site build as well.
Ownership of the Site
Dear Dale:
I dunno...are you saying that our group-grope-took-forever-broke-a-few-times-went-offline-the-day-before-camp methodology was flawed? Hmmm....seems harsh. I don't know about anyone else but I'll buy you cheeseburgers for the rest of the year if you take on the website!!! Can you come on Sunday?
And also though, I have to thank Rich and his great team at SageTree Solutions for hauling around the sites from GBM hosting to their new home. Of course AFTER we moved it to my Acquia account I found out they offer free camp hosting...doh.

Sounds good to me, Dale. It
Sounds good to me, Dale. It looks like the 2011 site didn't get archived (it seems to have the start of 2012 frontpage) - if we could archive the site back to 2011 and start the 2012 with a new site. If you need any help, just holler. Thanks.
2011 Site
The 2011 site is all there, a few blocks turned off and the a few menu links disabled. While it makes all the engineers in the group nervous; y'all know the data is all there. I had been asking for a 2012 COD site since June but didn't get much help and needed to start marketing the 2012 camp. We're up for 2013 DrupalCon and our preparedness is being watched very carefully. Also, because this is one of the first major camps of the year, it tends to sneak up on people for marketing dollars and the vendors I see on my travels have been asking about camp dates and such. The plan their trips several months in advance. I understand it's hard working around sales people because our world view and actions seem odd, sometimes we are actually trying to help. :)
The old site will be returned as soon as the new COD site is up which hopefully will be very soon. Hurrah Dale...

Design volunteers
Hi Kathy, I'll bring this up at the DUG meeting on Wednesday. If someone can provide me with the hosting credentials/access I should be able to take care of this on the weekend.
I can help when the time
I can help when the time comes for front-end development and theming. Good of Dale to volunteer to manage the project. I'm completely unavailable for Tuesday meetings though. Mondays are fine. Chances are I won't be at tomorrow's DUG either. Cheers!
Day preference
I'd love to be a part of this, however weekends are not ideal for me. I'm open to any weekday, if we can make that happen.
Days available
Hi there, I think most meetings are planned for during the week starting 6:30-7:00ish seems to fit our group. See my notes to Jonathan's post, glad you are getting involved. Check out the latest post for the pdf of tasks that are open for adoption.
