Ideas for "releasing" changes on a staging site for pushing to live site?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Our shop is planning on implementing a staging instance where content editors will post/make their respective changes. However, it will be necessary to have someone sign-off on each particular set/group of changes prior to it being pushed/migrated to the live site (automatically). While I'm in the process of researching "features", "deploy" and "backup/migrate" I don't see any with a mechanism to hold changes until approved/released.

Has anyone else implemented anything like list before? Has anyone any ideas as to what modules may provide this? And while we're at it, what is the recommended methodology to move content from staging to live???

Any suggestions appreciated - Thanks

I try to keep all content on

I try to keep all content on the live server personally but what you'd want to look at is the deployment module.

Sounds like Workflow

Check out the Workflow module. Nancy Flowers did a demo at the Yale DrupalCamp. She can probably help you through the way she set it up. It won't push the content (deploy is your best bet there), but you will have a solid way to create, review and approve content.

I agree...

I agree with Jim, the workflow module seems like it would be the easiest way to restrict what people can publish and not publish. Using Workflow along with Rules you can basically restrict and control everything that is happening in the system. We only use Deployment to make sure our business partners can see an entire site up and running without it being Production. We are looking to implement Workflow though to automate the approval process for node updates.

If Drupal 7, check out Workbench

I have a couple D7 sites in development that require publishing workflow. I am just getting started with the Workbench module - http://drupal.org/project/workbench. If your site is in D7, you may want to go this route vs. the Workflow/Revisioning/Rules method.

For Workflow, check out the excellent tutorial at http://drupal.yale.edu/books/drupal-how-guide/managing-approval-process-... (I believe Nancy Flowers-Mangs is the author).
