Game Character

Just released the new Game Character module.

From the project page:

The Game Character module provides a structure and API for Game Character nodes on your site. You can set one or more node types to be Game Character types from the Game Character administration page, at admin/settings/game_characters. At that point, any nodes of that type will be set as game characters, which may be activated by the owning user, or any user with administrative permissions.

Characters may be activated or inactivated with provided links. Additionally, if the node is created by an anonymous user, and that user later logs in, they may be provided with a unique 'claim character' link which will change ownership of the node.

By itself, this API currently does little more. However, it may be used in conjunction with other modules. See the project page for other modules currently using the Game Character API.

More later; I have a lot of notes from the holidays to turn into game utilities...

Though in retrospect, after

Though in retrospect, after about 10 hours of work, I just realized it might be better to implement this as an add-on to Flag... Bummer... Guess I have more work ahead of me...

No matter for this release,

No matter for this release, which is good. Switching over to Flag would add more administrative options (and complexity), and Views support. There would be no other change in functionality. I'll have to decide if I want to migrate this to Flag in the future.

Additionally, Game Character

Additionally, Game Character allows anonymous users to flag nodes as belonging to them, storing the node id's in the session, which is currently unallowed with the Flag module. So there's a valid reason for using the new module instead.
