Configuration Management

Headlines
- Had a meeting with Gabor, Plach, and Jose about multilingual considerations in the configuration system. This discussion has been summarized at http://groups.drupal.org/node/185609.
- Had a code sprint at the Pacific Northwest Drupal Summit with beejeebus, msonnabaum, webchick and ksenzee. We worked on some implementations for the system and ksenzee wrote tons of awesome doc blocks!
- Had several discussions with yched and swentel at BADCamp about Field API and the config system. The summary of this is currently in final review and will be posted shortly.
- Had a very long discussion with DavidStrauss, sun, michaelfavia, yched, beejeebus, webchick, crell and possibly more about how to handle the update process for configuration (what happens when config is reloaded off disk and how to handle extra processing that needs to be done.) This summary is also in final review to be posted shortly.
Next steps
- Post summaries
- I recognize that we are in an awkward phase where it is difficult to crowdsource much of the initiative because our API is in such a constant state of flux, therefore for the next couple sprints I am going to take a more active role at the code level in order to get things solidified more quickly and get us to a point where we can spread tasks out more easily. Note this doesn’t mean I don’t still need help :)
Call to Action
- I’m really looking for someone to take a really active role in the initiative, to get super-involved and help me with reviews and to bounce ideas off of. If you think you’re that person get in touch, please!
Props to
Everyone who helped out at my recent code sprints!
