Way too many image/multimedia galleries!

All started when I thought "hmm, let´s add a new feature to my site when I upgrade it to Drupal 6.x... image galleries for me and my users aswell".
Meet hell.

Yet Another Image Module

I´m pretty sure that I´ve forgot some, and maybe some others aren´t exactly the same, because there are different functionalities out there, but for anyone that want to try and get a multimedia gallery, it´s pretty difficult to choose, and to check all of them.
I´ve tried the gallery inside the image module, Fast Gallery and wanted to try some others, but when I saw THAT many, I thought in creating a list ... never imagined the list would be THIS long!

I would like to read comments from people that have actually tried some of these. Can you give any advice?

I use a combination of modules because I feel like it gives me more control over the final product.

  1. Imagefield to attach an image to a node
  2. Imagecache to make sure the image is the right size and shape
  3. Views to display the image in a gallery format
  4. Taxonomy to be able to categorize into different galleries
  5. Lightbox2 as a nice special effect to make navigating the images easier.

... and now that I came to think of it, I´ve missed BornFree too (although this module seems to be similar to Galleria, at the Galleria project page it tells what are their differences).

Personally, I like menalto gallery with Gallery module / g2image - it gives you user/site galleries, but also ties into wysiwyg/tinymce to give an easy way of inserting images into nodes via g2 filters.

Views Slideshow doesn't

Views Slideshow doesn't exactly work as a Gallery.
i think that module should be removed from this list as it is already present in the "similar Slideshows modules" review

there is however a Views Gallery module.
it integrates with Views Slideshow and Lightbox2

another note - CCK Gallery is being deprecated by the main developer in favor of Node Gallery for Drupal 7.

I just was looking for a gallery module myself and found this post ... I don't see Gallery Assist and the related submodules on this list.
