Well for one, I do. I am a web developer for a scottish music company, who is using Drupal to create our next generation websites.
I'd like to see how many people on here use Drupal, and if we can work together on organising a group meeting either in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
Leave your comments and join the group!

Edinburgher
Hi
I live in Edinburgh and I'm using drupal in the next incarnation of my website, www.geologyrocks.co.uk
http://www.geologyrocks.co.uk
Just stumped across this group
Cool! so we have a Scottish Drupal Group. Hope i'm not late to join the fun.
I am currently using Joomla! CMS but due to some limitations, i'm giving Drupal a go and currently testing Drupal 5 RC1. I am re-creating my site and hope to have it powered by Drupal soon but the learning curve has been quite steep though i'm positive this switch is for the better. Therefore, it would be great if i can meet up and discuss everything related to Drupal.
When will be the next meetup?
thanks,
P.S. I work in Edinburgh as a freelance web designer and site developer. Here's my personal site: www.duvien.com
Moving to Edinburgh
Hello all,
We're moving to Edinburgh next weekend (from near Birmingham). I've just quit my old job, and am starting freelance webdev fulltime. Bit new to Drupal though! I'll hopefully be contributing to the opensource modules.
Edinburgh seems like a great town :) Am looking forward to it :D
You will love it...
Edinburgh is indeed a great and beautiful city. You are going to have a lot of fun, no doubt.

One more for the roll-call
Greetings from North Edinburgh! I've been dabbling in Drupal for a few months but soon will hopefully set up a couple of sites for interested bodies soon. I've been erstwhile holding off until version 5.0 arrives. Don't let me fool people that I'm a guru or summit - I'm very much a newbie. I'm into standards based markup and getting more confident with with PHP as the days progress. Always up for a meeting, especially if its on the East Coast!
Larkhall
Hello there. I'm in Larkhall, near Hamilton. Mainly looking to create hosted products using Drupal.
Cheers, Neil.
Glasgow
Hi,
originally from Edinburgh but now living and working in Glasgow. Working in my full time job to move our main inhouse Web App to Drupal and using Drupal for my own sites and possible contract work.
Southside of Glasgow
We use drupal for our community website. We changed to Drupal after using phpwebsite for many months. It's been much easier to use, but I miss phpwebsite's business directory!

Wow
You know Drupal is popular when it spreads as far as the nether regions of south side glasgow. we'll be mixing with the great and good from Giffnock and Newton Mearns before we know it!! ;-D
Like the site and particularly interested to see you have combined it with a community interest company. if you don't mind me asking what's your goals for the organisation, and how did you find the process of setting it up? if i'm right it's a hybrid of commercial/social enterprise??
Cheers, great stuff,
Neil.
I am in Edinburgh
and am using drupal (or whether you can call it that) would be up for meeting up with people.
hi kerry
hi mate, how's it going? lost the will to live with drupal yet??
Neil
i lost the will to live with it a couple of years ago, I thought I would try and teach myself some stuff save me being at the mercy of others all the time, giving it one last chance then if that dont work I will chuck in the towel and go find another software to use, looking at joomla just now so will need to have a play with it but I know someone who can help me with that and not bail on me till the jobs done so that may be the better option in terms of finding some help
yeah
you'll be here till doomsday trying to do it yourself or waiting for voluntary help. only way to do anything useful with it is to have a few $$ to spend to get all the crap taken care of, which I presume is chickens, eggs and yet more helpful people...
how is that side of things going? I meant to ask you if you've tried the Big Lottery and similar routes for funding? I've looked a lot into them recently and it's quite vibrant.
yeah, Joomla's much the same kinda thing, so if you have a bod for it certainly would do no harm to get something running that way.

I have managed to find someone who I will be paying to get it fixed, he knows what he is doing and is good, so it should be a couple of days before the scarybird site is fixed. Managed to get the go ahead for a microfinance loan for the printing of the posters that we have and just getting a zencart fixed up by a guy called Matthew, I did look at the ecommerce module but it was taking ages to do anything with.
So within the next two weeks should have all the backend stuff fixed and the store sorted. Have an army of scarybirds ready. Decided that in order to try and do some good without all the bollocks all the normal means have to be avoided like the plague. so I am going for the dark and sinister approach and the artwork is fab. Have u seen the posters we have so far?
Microfinance Loan
So where are you getting the loan from? Nice name: "scarybirds". My group used to costum make Eccommerce shopping carts, but honestly there will come a time..and it's coming...where the custom stuff won't be needed. It'll put a lot of folks out of biz and make life easier for webmasters.

Quick Intro
Hi, I just came across this group and im from Edinburgh. I've just setup my first drupal site Astral Voices its not a very complicated site but its been a steep learning curve. Im now trying to add my sites url to outside websites to improve my seo ranking. Any good ideas anyone. I was wondering if anyone wants to collaborate on any projects, I'm sure we all have expertise in different areas and have different interests so if you feel like telling everyone what your into, go ahead. As you will see from my site im into producing podcasts for business & organisations etc but my background i guess is in IT (though im not really a website developer) , my likes are music-all sorts & collecting vinyl records, VW campervans & vespa's, science & travelling. Well i dont want to write too much but feel free to get in touch.

Glasgow in here
I'm quite new to Drupal. I'm putting up a site for Polish Art & Culture Association - an association that aims at helping out Polish artists in Scotland as well as bringing them together with Scottish artists. Hmm, you cannot get away from polish folk these days, huh? ;)
The biggest problem is having it dual language as support for this stuff is still in its infancy in Drupal (although under intensive development). Everything was going fine until I realised that comments cannot be shared between both node language versions, crap! Neither Localizer nor Internationalization module want to do it.
The site will be under www.pacaplace.org
Anyway Drupal seems to be very very well designed and is getting better very quickly. I'm even thinking about looking for some freelance web development with it after I'm finished with my exams.
Cheers for Scotland!
pacaplace.org
Hi Mcek,
Welcome to the Scotland Drupal group. Your project sounds interesting unfortunately i've not got any experience with the dual language capabilities of drupal so i cant help you there. One thought i had is that you would have a good chance of getting funding for your project as it is cultural and helping minorities. Let me know if you need more info.

Hi guys
Hello,
My name is Clem, I am originally from France but live in edinburgh since a couple of years. I just found this group, great to see there are many people using Drupal in Scotland. My Drupal webiste is http://www.creadev.net, a very basic one...
Good luck with your projects guys ;)
Another Edinburger - help needed
Hi All,
I guess I'm more of a client than a developer, but I'm really pushing the envelope with a site I'm having done in drupal so I need to know as much as I can about it so I'd gladly attend meet-ups if any get planned.
I'm also recruiting a drupal developer right now if anyone's interested? 0131 202 6311. There might also be scope for freelancers depending on how I get on with the permanent position.
Paul
Hey from Penicuik!
Hello!
My name's Tommy and I'm a transplanted Killie boy living in Penicuik, and currently working on developing a complex Drupal-based website for Mr CauliflowerEars who posted above me :)
I'm finding Drupal both ecstasy and agony in equal measures - some things are so simple, but others send me into the bowels of the Drupal API (and into a bottle sometimes!).
I'm liking some of the suggestions that we could meet up informally for a bit of networking!
Will keep an eye on this group for more developments...
Code safely!
Tommy.
Meetup
Hi Tommy
I'm trying to organise a meetup of Drupal users and also to talk about a future project that may be of interest to you. I dont really want to post about it on the Drupal Scotland Group site so I would appreciate it if I could email you directly. Perhaps you could email me at alan.bold@astralvoices.com and then we can talk more about it.

Meetup
Hi All, I'd be up for meeting other Drual Users in Edinburgh. Drupal can be a nightmare so it would be good to share our problems and solutions with others. In fact i would be interested in building a Drupal website development team on a commercial level. Something similar to what the lullabot team in the US do. Let me know if there are any freelancers interested.
http://astralvoices.com
Yup i'll meet up
Hi I'm getting my teeth into Drupal as we speak and would like to meet up and get more involved. I too am amazed at both the power and the ability that Drupal has to make me want to pull my hair out!
Cheers
Martin
When will it happen?
There seem to be a lot of talk but no action. I too have started using Drupal and would like to share my experiences and knowledge with others users as well as learn from others, from Edinburgh.
Of course, Xmas is just around the corner but perhaps in early January next year will be a good time for everyone.
Let's name a place now (somewhere central with free wireless) and then decide on a date of the meetup?
thanks,
P.S. Or drop me an email: contact@duvien.com
Any plans of a meetup?
Is there going to be a meetup in Edinburgh this year?
thanks,
Meet at the end of month?
I'm still very keen to meet up with some fellow Drupalers - would anyone be up for meeting in Glasgow or Edinburgh on say Tue 29th of Jan? I'm happy to travel through to Edinburgh as i'm Glasgow based - but have no idea a good place to meet with WiFi access.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers
Martin

LOL! I think we should all where a big paper hat with the Drupal logo on it :)
On a serious note, I can get there just before 7:30pm and bring along a print out with a Drupal logo on an A4 paper and stick it up onto a wall where i will be sitting with a Macbook Pro?
Or we can just tell the staff about this meetup and when you get there just asked one of the staff about it so they can point you in the right directions.
Better still, if anyone wants me to arrange to reserve a space for this meetup let me know and i can try and organise this.
Hi Du Vien
I think that would be a good idea to ask if you can reserve a space, I can get their early than 7.30 if you like
That's not a problem but
That's not a problem but let's see what everyone else thinks too before i go ahead and arrange it.
Have a nice weekend.
i look the same as i do in the photo
but will be leaving the skeleton at home due to the fact he cant hold his drink like he used to
Reservation
Yeah I think it would be a good idea to try and reserve a seating area - looks like there might be a few of us ;-) If you could call and see if we can reserve space Du Vien it would prob be a good idea. I'm sure we'll recognise each other - the laptop bags should be a give away!
Cheers
Martin
Space Reservation
There's two coming in from my end so definitely reserve space if it's an option.
KH
reserve a seat for me
reserve a seat for me please....
No problem, I'll go and
No problem, I'll go and speak to the management tomorrow and will report back.
Hi all,
Hi all,
I've spoke to one of the staff at Forest Cafe today and they said there will be a free room upstairs which we can use for next tuesday. They did seem a little disorganised so i think i'll be there a little early to make sure everything is fine. So when you turn up, just ask at the bar. I'll also be there waiting beside the bar just to make sure.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
thanks,
cheers for doing this
I have some flipchart paper and stuff will bring with me thought it might be a good idea to get everyone who is there to write who they are on it and their experiences of drupal on it anyway see you Tuesday and after the meeting will do a mindmap of it so i can post it online as it might be useful in setting agendas for future meetings, as i used to host some world cafe type of meetings which were quite fun and you actually learn a lot from others while having a laugh at the same time
I'll be there!
Great to learn there is a meeting i can show up at in person
Am involved with quite a few Drupal projects as a volunteer, but am sure I will be able to learn a lot from this.
it would be useful to see
it would be useful to see people's websites before we meet - mine is a (amateur) family website for relatives round the world http://arwallace.com
I am hoping that I can get some advice on backup at the meeting as my SQL databases are now too large.....
Here is mine, it's always
Here is mine, it's always going thru a re-design when i find the time. It is just a personal blog site. What i'm i looking to learn or help others from this user group - more theming (make the frontpage look different), Views and Panel modules including any other useful must-have modules, version control system (CVS), building social networks, intranet sites, profile installations, preparing to migrate/upgrade to Drupal 6.
Website: http://www.duvien.com
here is mine
http://www.scarybirds.com/
the outer pages are done with css and will be having a go at fixing them, but what i really need advice on is image galleries and decent profiles. The majority on the site are people i have been networking with over the past few years and some of them are artists, writers, musicians and social/business networkers. Keeping the site invite only after joining many social and business network sites and finding them overun by dickheads and spammers. The purpose of the site is for those with talent to collaborate with other talented people who often get over looked by companies so they can create projects that they would benefit from without having to drain them of their talent just to fit in with the corporate bollocks that most companies demand.
two brilliant sites
liked both your sites and especially the graphics in scarybirds. Kerrysanto; I use Gallery2 for images - while there are other free resources like flickr I prefer to keep my own area that is password synchronised with Drupal. All my family photos are password protected. It can be made to look better but just haven't had the time to do anything more. Instructions on Gallery2 here; http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:How_to_Embed_Gallery2_in_Drupal
Hi Andy
thanks ever so much for that, if you want to have a look at some of the other artwork we have had done for the two projects we got on the go at the moment, here is a link to Stu Smith's site been working with him and a comedy writer called Dave Hailwood, the emails that fly around are a great laugh
http://www.gravitoncreations.com/projects/scarybirds/project_pages/scary...
looking forward to meeting everyone on Tuesday
How was the meeting guys?

Drupal Users
Hi
I am a recruiter who specialises within web design and web development and noticed that Drupal is becoming a bit more commonplace but Drupal users are hard to find. If anybody would like a Drupal role based in Edinburgh I have two available. One of these I am particularly excited about.
The main requirements I am looking for is strong PHP and Drupal experience. If you have worked on multiple websites at the same time this would be an added benefit.
If anybody is interested please contact me,

Drupal Roles in Edinburgh-commutable from Fife :-)
As I mentioned Drupal roles can be quite hard to recruit for so I thought I would put this out there.
I have contract positions based in Edinburgh which the primary focus is Drupal. Other skills which would be beneficial for the role would be PHP/HTML/CSS/Javascript/Linux
