Hey,
I was thinking of some ideas for the next meeting and some topics that would be helpful to me would be discussing addons and layouts for different types of general sites anyone might have.
e.g. News Website, E-Commerce, Blog Site, Article Based, etc.. And different ways you could use Drupal to approach a general site idea.

I like it...
Even though I work in Drupal all day long, it would still be very refreshing to learn how other people mix the various modules and settings to arrive at a functional product. If possible, I would love for this presentation to be "down in the dirt" as much as possible; rather than just listing the modules chosen, I would find it very useful if the presenter would actually demonstrate the setting up of a selected site, going through the steps of configuring the modules, etc. Obviously, with a limited amount of time, one could only do so much. But I still think it could be very valuable.
Someone made a great
Someone made a great suggestion at the end of last meeting that I'd love to see happen. He suggested that instead of talking about how we set things up, let's actually create a small site as a group and see exactly how it works step-by-step. Perhaps we could start with a simple non-profit site that is looking for help, then move to more complex sites later. It's likely that even with our huge brains combined we wouldn't be able to complete the site entirely in one meeting, but we could always divvy up the tasks and have it completed by next meeting.
The only concern is that this type of work will require more planning than anything we've done before. We'd be committing to a non-profit for a remake of their site, and will have to follow through. I think this type of project would be an awesome demonstration of how Drupal works, and could serve the greater good in the end.
So what do you think? We'll need some good community feedback before we commit to something like this.
Thanks,
Chuck
when can we have a meeting?
all: I am very new to the drupal community and am just learning. I just got back from the DC Drupal convention today. I still have a lot of research and self teaching to do. I would love to link up with this group and contribute anyway I can.
I do think that is a great idea jordashtalon mentioned. That would benefit me greatly. Right now I am working on my first drupal non-profit site. SO the step-by-step idea is also something I would love to talk about. As I am REALLY new, the instruction would be very beneficial.
where, and when would be a good place to have a meeting?

Drupal Tank Meeting Tuesday March 17
Hey everyone,
With Brandon Buttars being busy this next week, he has asked that I help plan the next Drupal Tank meeting. Sounds like some great ideas for meetings. With what we agreed upon, the next meeting coming up this coming Tuesday, 17, 7-9pm (that is if everyone still wants to do it then; sorry for the short notice) we'll need to decide on an agenda and decide on who will be presenting. Odin Development in American Fork is still willing to host this months meeting.
With DrupalCon being just this last week, I think if we had those who went take about 5-10 minutes each to present specific points that they learned would be a great way to start off the meeting. I personally would love to hear what I missed out on, especially from multiple individuals (everybody has their own perspective). Then what we could do is either have someone present a site that they have been working on or have experience with and go into greater detail of how they configured the modules on the site (like what jordashtalon suggested). Or we could brainstorm together and work together on redesigning or creating a website for a non-profit organization (like what Chuck suggested). Creating the non-profit site could easily take much of our time after reporting on and discussing DrupalCon. Presenting a site and going though module configuration for it could take a bit less time than the non-profit.
So, a proposed agenda for this months meeting:
7:00 - 7:15 pm Introductions
7:15 - 8:00 pm Report and Discussion on DrupalCon (anyone that went that wants to share can prepare a 5-10 minute presentation of whatever they feel would benefit us a Drupal community)
8:00 - 9:00 pm Brainstorm and Work on Non-Profit Website OR Have several individuals prepare 15-20 minute trainings on specific modules and how to configure them (we'll need volunteers for the presentations if we go that route)
9:00 - 9:15 pm Take down and clean-up (that way I don't have to do it all myself :) )
If there are any more suggestions for the Drupal Tank meeting for this next week, either for topics, agenda, times, etc., please let me know.
Thanks,
Curtis Jensen
This sounds great. This is
This sounds great. This is during Spring break, so I shouldn't have a problem attending.
I can volunteer showcasing my personal site. I just did a full-custom design on it from my old default (Garland) theme. I implemented some of the techniques discussed in February's meeting. I have a few more things to left to fix (Secondary Menus and IE 6 Bugs). But, feel free to check it out now at http://craigjacksonweb.com and let me know if you guys are interested in me showcasing the site.
That Would Work
I think that would work. There hasn't been much activity since you posted, so we definitely could go with your presenting again. But since there has been little activity, seemingly lack of interest, and lack of planning due to change in meeting planners, I think it may be a good idea to postpone our meeting a day, week, or couple weeks. I'll be setting up a poll that asks everyone. Thanks for your input and help.
