Hello Everyone,
I asked the question at the last meet-up if Fridays were good for everyone to have our meetings. Obviously our core group of members will agree that Friday is a good day since we all consistently show up on Friday. My question is are we excluding people that would potentially show up to our meeting because it is on Friday?
I would like to hear everyones opinions. Please post a comment to this thread if you have ever attended one of our meetings, or want to attend one of our meetings, or if you are reading this thread. Thanks.

Now for my opinion.
I think the day of week is everything. I believe Friday's exclude people. I've asked a couple people to attend our group the past two months, and they were interested in joining us, but mentioned that Friday was a tough day to attend.
One thing I would like to mention, is when LA Drupal met on Sundays it wasn't nearly as large as the group is now. Moving the day to mid-week worked in it's benefit. In comparison, our group is mainly college students so early week probably would not work to our benefit, but I think a Wednesday or Thursday night might be a nice compromise since those days are at the end of a school week, but not the end of a work week. I think we can make the meeting more attractable to people who'd rather have their Friday nights and weekends open to non-work stuff, if you get my drift.
Post your opinions to this thread. I'm especially interested to hear the opinions from the guys at Attraction Industries. It would be great to have more interaction with the local businesses in this industry and have them be part of our group. I believe the group provides more opportunities for both the businesses and the group members involved.
The Friday time and date
The Friday time and date were chosen last semester because it was the only evening that accommodated everybody who was attending. I think the evening college students will be a deciding factor again. That said, the new VVC club is meeting two Wednesdays a month - maybe we could meet on a Wednesday as well?
I don't really have a stake in the time at the moment. I can meet middle of the week if that's better for everyone. I'd like to hear from the people coming from down the hill too, or people down the hill interested in coming.
If people are being held
If people are being held back from attending because our meetings are held on Fridays then I vote to experiment with a different day of the week. Besides, I'm tired of having to reschedule my hot dates every last Friday of the month :P
Ultimately, there's no way all 33 members will have compatible schedules. But since we don't want to leave people out of the loop maybe we should vary the days? Like Kevin mentioned, the WDDA will have their meetings the second and last Wednesday of each month. Maybe HDD can prepare for Tuesday or Thursdays nights?

I'm up for any day from Tues-Fri. Mondays I'm at Sketch Nite and weekends are reserved for D&D :P
Wednesdays would be pretty good. If WDDA is already on first and last wednesdays maybe HDD can switch to the second or third Wednesday of each month?
It would keep things pretty simple for those who (like me) will want to attend both WDDA and HDD. I'd just need to keep Wednesdays free.
I talked with Glen here @ Attraction and he's up for any weekday. Jake has been getting into Drupal, when I see him I'll ask him his opinion.
Should we try and see what days and times are actually available at the McDonalds? It'd suck to settle on a new day and time to find out that slot is already filled.

That's a good point to keep the meeting consistent with the WDDA meeting, since the core group that comes to High Desert Drupal will probably attend WDDA and have already blocked out Wednesdays on their calendars. This way people who want to attend both meetings only need to be concerned with blocking out one night a week, rather than two. We will try the first Wednesday of every month for HDD.
Since we haven't had any naysayers in this thread, I called McDonalds and have tentatively reserved the first Wednesday of every month from 6pm to 8pm for the rest of the year (WDDA meets the second Wednesday). I'm going to go in to McDonalds and talk with the Store Manager tomorrow to lock those dates in.
Our next High Desert Drupal meeting is tentatively scheduled for May 6th. We won't have a HDD meeting in April, but there will be two WDDA meetings in April to attend. Details about the WDDA meeting to come.

This is a little bit late, but there is definitely no way me and two other guys would make it there on Wednesday. I just recently joined the group, but it looks like I will never make it to one of your meetings.
