This month, we're going to talk about apps! No, not iPad apps, Drupal Apps! http://drupal.org/project/apps Let's talk about some of the new things we learned at DrupalCon Denver!

  1. Drupal 8 will be incorporating certain components of the Symfony2 PHP modular framework!
  2. The D8 WSCCI Initiative (Web Services & Configuration Core Initiative) has split up because it was "too big to accomplish in one lifetime". Configuration is now it's own initiative, and Web Services has been scaled back a bit for the D8 release.
  3. There's some amazing improvements in the themeing system for D8! Do you know what responsive theming is? Are you completely happy with the current PHPtemplate themeing system? Let's talk about it.

Then, we might end up sprinting for an hour on some code. We'll see.

Will miss today's meeting

Will miss today's meeting unless my prior meeting ends earlier than expected. Symfony2 is interesting. With this, D8 might gain some key benefits of Ruby on Rails. Must study REST, then Symfony2 rsn.

The Solana Beach Drupal Meetup is progressing well, 5 meetings under our belt, as many as 11 Drupalers at one meeting, minimum of 4 one week. Current focus is theming (which is a lot more than templates and css). The meetings are never dull; we each learn something each week.
