DrupalCon Denver is going to be a spectacular event and there is lots planned by the Media Initiative to really take advantage of this opportunity. We have sessions, sprint, meetings and many other things planned.
Unfortunately not everyone are in a financial position to get there by own means. To make it possible for key contributors to get to Denver we have created a donation page on WePay. If this turns out to work well, we will continue using WePay for future initiatives, such as the upcoming Media Sprint planned for the Drupal Dev Days in Barcelona in the middle of June. I've also written a post on Drupal Mill with more details about how funds raised will be used.
I'm also one of those who will benefit from the funds raised. My plan for Denver, which will be my first DrupalCon, is all about learning and getting experience to be able to do more to help creating the best possible media support for Drupal. I am convinced that being able to meet people in person and participating in the media sprint will be very beneficial for that.
