It's been said before that a product is only as good as its support. I see Phase2 has released a Feb. 23rd Alpha 6 of OpenPublish. I'm again considering using OP for a project instead of another platform, but I have questions which seem to echo earlier inquiries left unanswered.
How do I create a subtheme for OpenPublish? I understand OP is using the "base theme" Frame, which in turn uses the Omega theme framework. To create a subtheme for OP, do I work off Frame or Omega? This question is significant, since Omega uses the css/global.css file for user alterations, while Frame appears to use css/default? I thought one of the goals of updating OP was to make subtheming easier for the end-user and not need design house intervention?
How disconnected is the OP "Frame" (or Omega?) theme from OP internals? Can I make cosmetic changes in the theme without affecting OP's functionality?

Hi @ithacaindy. Have you
Hi @ithacaindy. Have you seen our documentation on theming OpenPublish at http://docs.openpublishapp.com/display/openpublishd7/Theming+with+Frame? I believe that will answer some of your questions.
To create a subtheme for OpenPublish, you will need to create a subtheme off of Frame. The Frame theme is as attached to OpenPublish functionality as any other theme. For example, if a view is themed a certain way and you change the way that theme works, you may see a change in how the content of the view is displayed.
We highly recommend creating a sub-theme before making any changes to OpenPublish, so the theme will fit your branding and desired look and feel.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!

I appreciate the response.
I appreciate the response. Yes, I've read the OpenPublish documentation about working with Frame. However, the documentation's explanation that "you use Frame to sub-theme" didn't explicitly say that a user should make a sub-theme of Frame.
As for how interconnected a sub-theme of Frame is to OpenPublish functionality, I understand changes within my sub-theme would alter the appearance of OP. However, will such items as captioning, author and node relationships remain?
Lastly, can you estimate how far you are from releasing a more refined end-user theme for OpenPublish?
