Topics/Presentations

We'd like to see everyone come prepared (even just mentally) to either pose a question/issue they've ran across in the past month, or something cool/amazing they've discovered in the past month. There are plenty of questions out there, so let's make sure we know what they are so we can get them all answered at this month's meetup!!

Dinner & Drinks

After each meetup, we depart from the "structured" environment, and continue our discussions over beers and/or food. Possible locations include: Murphy's Tap Room, Strange Brew, Milly's Tavern, or The Yard Restaurant.

We look forward to seeing you all there!!

I won't be attending this week, but look forward to being able to use either a Google Hangout or Adobe Connect thingy :)

What is the focus this Thursday?

Bob Newby's picture

Hi Jake & Michelle,

Is there a focus for this Thursday's meetup? If there is one, and what it is will influence whether or not I attend.

Thanks,

Bob

I can't make this one either...

...hopefully, next month won't be filled with so many meetings/appointments.

Well...

I was hoping someone could/would post some ideas/questions that we could use for a general topic.

Here's an area of interest to me...

Responsive design with Panels Everywhere.

Drupal Apps

rggoode's picture

I'm not sure how new or relevant this is, but I'd just heard about the Apps module http://drupal.org/project/apps and the related LevelTen Open Enterprise install profile http://drupal.org/project/openenterprise that integrates Apps for simplified installs of basic site configurations (they've included a custom Omega subtheme called "Navin" as part of the install, too).

With Apps installed and a connection to an Apps server, you can quickly configure stuff like SEO Tools, galleries, rotating banners, and other stuff. It's still in beta, but seems like a nice way to jump start newbies.

I was just giving it a try today, but ran into some hangups with a requirement to enter FTP server connection details for a local install on MAMP. If I can get that figured out, I'll play with it and report what I can.

Anyway, seems like it might make a short discussion if anyone else is familiar with it.

Roger

Responsive panels

I second panels (in general) and responsive layouts.

Responsive design

Will drive the hour and a half for responsive web design.

Looks like Jake is on the line :)

Bob Newby's picture

So Jake, will we indeed focus on panels in general plus responsive design plus panels everywhere?

Cheers,

Bob

Well...

himerus's picture

I can definitely speak to responsive design... in concept and practice... But I can't speak to the panels/panels everywhere/responsive panels much at all as I haven't used Panels since ... well ... since before I built Omega. :)

Damien has the most experience with Panels but will only be able to attend remotely, which makes it tough to interact with the group in the room very well.

I do have (but it's no where near done as of today) a presentation that I'm giving in Denver on Responsive, but I have no idea what state it'll be in by Thursday night... I AM attempting to get it complete between now and then but can't make promises as of yet.

I don't see a problem though that we essentially have a round table discussion on responsive, panels, methods, best practices. There are plenty around the table that should have the knowledge of some of the various aspects where I might fall short because of my focus.

Then if by chance my presentation is ready, I can do a quick run through for practice for DrupalCon.

I'm all up for this

perignon's picture

I'm all up for this discussion as it is a topic that not a lot about it is written online. Might be an opportunity to publish the video from the meeting and some notes to the community.

Actual Adobe Connect Link...

the original link didn't work, the above is corrected... However, Pat, the meeting room isn't up yet....
