The June meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday June 9th at 7:00pm at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park.
As usual, we'll start off with introductions and news items.
This month we'll be doing a group discussion on best practices for running a Drupal Shop. We'll start talking about how to target the right clients for your business, what documents and information to share, how to keep your projects on track and avoid scope creep, and whatever else comes up in our discussion.
Next, we'll get into some lighting talks...
Lightning talks give anyone (and I mean anyone - you, the person next to you and the one across the room) the chance to discuss a recent Drupal thought, observation, or experience that takes five minutes or less to talk about. You can teach us something, wonder out loud why X doesn't work like you think it should, or ask questions about some Drupally thing you're struggling to understand. The only rule for Lightning Talks is that you're going to be stopping at five minutes whether you're done or not. Other than that's it's fair game, so step up and have fun!
We'll try to save some time at the end for general mingling and catching up.
Newcomers are always welcome, bring any of your friends that might be interested in learning about Drupal. We hope to see you on Wednesday at the Balboa Park Hall of Champions.

For casual site builders too
Best practices also apply to hobby users and casual site builders, not just Drupal shops. Perhaps even more so. So don't feel put off if you are not working with Drupal professionally.

June 9th is passed
Hello DrURoot,
Your announcement reads "The June meeting of the San Diego DUG is happening on Wednesday June 9th at 7:00pm at the Hall of Champions in Balboa Park."
This was posted today June 13th!
Is it suppose to say June 19th or ... ???
Thx,
eh
Was this meet-up tonight? (6/13/12)
Hello,
I wanted to echo the previous post, was this meet-up tonight?
2nd Wednesdays!
Guys, it's ALWAYS the 2nd Wednesdays of the month. If the room is already booked (which only happened once during the past year), one of the organizers will let everyone know a few days in advance. You guys missed out on a great round table discussion on best practices for running a Drupal shop.
I also let everyone know that my music startup is finally ready for browsing (initially as private pre-alpha): http://discography.by/user
It's built in D7 with 125 modules so far and growing (special thanks to Sage Tree Solutions & the Newbie 2 Ninja study group for helping me become a killer site builder). The best feedback I got so far was from Joel Farris: "Jay, use the Feedback module". Joel, that module was EXACTLY what I needed. Thanks!
Keep the feedback coming folks, and if you have any friends that are musicians, let them know about my site (as they are my target market and I rely on them to bring all their fans with them). If the site does well & there is enough interest, I'd be happy to do a full presentation after beta launch.

my only complaint
My only complaint about your music startup is that it is trying to make it easier for someone to become the next Lady Gaga.
Why make it harder?
Well, if it makes you feel better, I've never heard of a startup that makes things tougher than the way it was before. Startups solve problems, not create them. :)
But there definitely is a higher purpose for mine, even if it currently looks like a "Twitterish" idea where initially it's not clear as to what it's supposed to do. But the musicians that get it first will eventually help the fans also get it later. Hopefully.

On demand?
Once in a blue moon, people like Rich Yumul have brought the necessary equipment to make it happen. If there is a LOT of demand, maybe he'll bring it more often. :P
