If you create a view to display on front with a no results behavior of an empty txt box, that message will go away. I'll post a link to the thread I found that on as soon as I find it again.
1) create a view
in the view...
2) create a page display
3) set up filters, fields etc
4) add argument: Global: Null > Action to take if argument is not present: Display empty text
5) edit Page settings > path > node
(so the path is http://localhost/node ie. your home page)
Thanks
Is there some sort of time limit? Like, if you don't create content within 24 hours the message comes back?
Because I had content in my front page content area and this came to the top of it.

no - but how was the content displayed on your front page? Was it promoted to the front or was it in a block? Blocks won't count, and you'll still get the welcome message....

It is not a block, as far as
It is not a block, as far as I can tell. I can add and remove blocks using front page or sitewide context.
There is no way I have found to move this.
