I have had a couple people request book recommendations for Drupal recently. This is for Drupal 6, but do you have any you prefer? I was surprised how many now exist.
The last one I purchased was early 2008, the Pro Drupal Development for 5.x from John K. VanDyk. That is the only one I've purchased, so I don't have anything to compare to, but I found it to be helpful. I don't have a lot of time to keep up with my drupal dev skills, so I get rusty and it serves as a more of a reference book for me than anything.
I need a recommendation for a general drupal module developers reference (for people familiar with PHP/MySQL but not Drupal). We don't need anything basic.
I thought this one looked promising as well, has anyone used it:
Drupal 6 JavaScript and jQuery by Matt Butcher
Thanks!

Using Drupal
Using Drupal is one of the best recipe books. But definitely upgrade PDD first.

Safari Books Online does have Pro Drupal Development
In the meeting tonight "Pro Drupal Development, Second Edition" by John K. VanDyk was also mentioned as a great starting point. While Safari books online is run by O'Reilly, they've signed many other technical publishers such as Apress, and so this book is available online through their program. 79 books come up when you search for Drupal, so while it's not cheap it can be worth it for a month or two when first starting out, or when deciding what books to add to your collection.
