Monthly Hangout Agenda...Maybe... I need your feedback!

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

First - thanks to everyone that joined the PM Hangout yesterday; especially andreathegiant for showing us LiquidPlanner. I am looking forward to reconnecting and meeting new people over the next several months.

In an attempt to put a little bit of structure to the meeting, I offered at our last hangout to propose an agenda for each meeting. These are just initial thoughts to get the conversation started. Please provide your feedback and let me know what you think we should spend our precious time talking about; whether it is something I have proposed or something completely different.

For the first 20 minutes, continue to have a volunteer show off their favorite Project Management, Time Tracking, or Issue Tracking Tool. Spend the time giving an overview, letting us know what you would change about the tool, and what you can't live without. Of course answer questions as they come up.

For the next 20 minutes, discuss a specific topic chosen for the meeting. Topics that came to my mind include:
- Timeline Derailment: Your project timeline has been derailed. Why, how have you adjusted and what did you learn?
- Scope Creep: How do you keep your client from pushing scope boundaries?
- Sales Process and Project Management: How involved are you in the sales process? What works and what doesn't?
- The Art of Working With Developers: Tips on how to get developers on your side so that you can work as a team.
- Difficult Clients: What types of problems have you had with clients and what have you done to fix the situation?
- Client Involvement: Where do you draw the line on client involvement in the project and why? What works and doesn't work about their involvement?
- The Drupal Client: So your client "knows" Drupal. What does that mean and how do you work with them that may be different from other clients? What issues do you run into because they know Drupal?
- Fixed vs Hourly Budgets: Which do you prefer and why?
- Drupal Education for Your Client: What should you tell your client about Drupal? When and how do you let them dive into the CMS?
- Remote Project Management: What are the difficulties of managing a team that you can't talk to face-to-face each day? How do you solve these challenges?

Finally, the last 5 minutes would be kept open for event/camp updates or letting the group know about something cool you are doing (work or personal).

Thoughts on this? Love it? Hate it? Your feedback would be very helpful.

For all of you that are interested in the Monthly PM Hangout, I need your feedback. Is the suggested agenda what you had in mind or not at all? Please send me your feedback yet this week. Thanks!

Love it

Sorry I'm so late to reply, had a crazy week!! I love this idea, and support it fully :) Let's do a call for agendas or something the week of when a reminder is sent out (I can send a reminder for nov 13th, am about to create an event for it in here)

Also, what happened to the go to meeting? I thought someone was letting us use their platform for these so we could have more than 10 people? Did that die a slow, painful death? ;)

Great work L,
-shan

I'm still more than happy to

I'm still more than happy to let everyone use Go To Meeting. :) I was running usability testing with our GTM instance during this month's Oct call though, so that took priority. But once we definitely have a time and date set for next month's meeting, let me know and I'll set it up.
