The banner at the top suggests a number of things. The first sentence suggest that this group is about create open curriculum. But then it suggests that you should also post to this group information (marketing) about your for pay training, etc.
So which is it?

Does there have to be a "which"....? :-D
I completely support the idea of open curriculum development - although given the cost and sheer time of creating it - there don't seem to be a lot of takers. (Good training materials take approximately 4-6 hours of development time for every hour of delivered training.)
I do provide paid training - but also give a seat away free in each class to a (hopefully) deserving soul as part of my Drupal community "pay-back"!
There is always a balance that needs striking...did you have a specific concern?

Not really a concern
More a sense of lack of focus. There should be a place where paid training can be announced, but mixing that in with a group to discuss developing open source curriculum seems out of focus to me.
Regarding the time it takes to make training materials - isn't that an argument for doing it in an open source fashion so others can share work? I don't see offering paid training as inconsistent with developing curriculum in the open. For example, if we compare it to code development clearly we have many high quality developers developing modules in the open who are still able to make a good living as developers.
