CeBIT at Hannover, Germany is the world's largest and most international computer expo/trade fair. The established "Open Source Park" area hosted a Drupal booth last year. The maintainer of Open Source Park now defined a new project within this area (and we may proudly say that the German Drupal association contributed a lot to this idea): CMS Garden
Based on common experience that there is not so much competitions between open source content management frameworks than there is between proprietary cms and onpen source in general, we now present the most relevant open source cms at a common booth.
And guess what? There are quite some nice and fair communities out there. (Although Drupal is way ahead in terms of commitment and having fun. I am pretty sure we will count some converts after the show.)
Contribute, promote Drupal, and promote yourself!

What's the plan?
- 80 square meters booth area
- every cms on each presentation terminal
- every cms sends their volunteer consultants (2012's Drupal booth held 40)
- comparable cms information in a handy info book ("CMS Gardener's Guide")
- moderated cms competition (an independent jury issues small tasks - each cms builds their own solution - results will be presented and commented
- cms expert identification via t-shirts
- common identification via "cms gardener apron" (planned)
- "compete and share" - decision makers have the opportunity for direct comparison (and for sure they find a suitable open source alternative against proprietary solutions)
- common accomodation and cooking - sharing experiences and best practices 24/7
- Continuation of the project over several open source-related events (next: "Linuxtag" in Berlin, Germany in May)
We already created much awareness in online and offline media.
What about the costs?
As most of the Drupal events, this one will be funded like a camp: mainly via sponsoring. Cooperating CMS that have an organizational infrastructure (Drupal, Typo3, Joomla ...) put in some of the associational money, but the main part comes from advertisement in the above mentioned info book.
For those who think they can't afford an ad, the info book holds a CMS Service Provider Directory. 80 Euros (approx. 100 USD) should be affordable and every directory entry is a valuable contribution to promoting Drupal and open source. Donations via Paypal are also very welcome.
For funding, this way please.
Please note: Not much time left! Deadline for ads/entries booking is Friday, January 25th.
Let's get out there and tell the world about Drupal!
Contribute
Apart from funding, your assistance is very welcome:
- Mention CMS Garden in your newsletter, press releases, on Twitter, Facebook, Google+
- Help closing the funding gap the project by booking an ad, a directory entry, or by donating
- Convince clients and colleagues to sponsor this project (see above) - and don't forget about those working with other os-cms!
- Volunteer as a consultant at the booth (sorry, no budget for travel expenses, but we're trying our best to provide free accomodation and meals)
- Volunteer for the cms competetion team (fast-as-lightning sitebuilders up front)
- Organize t-shirt printing
- find a good and cheap European print shop for the info book
We, the "Drupal ambassadors"/co-organizers in this project, have organized the Drupal booth at CeBIT 2012 and found it a great success. We had way more visitors (and way more international visitors) than expected, and many new faces showed up at the user groups (at least all over Germany) afterwards.
Hope to see you in Hannover in March!
