Topics/Presentations
We'll have at least one short session along with networking and problem-solving:

1) Custom Advanced Search: Learn how to establish a robust design pattern for implementing advanced search features in Drupal, including search facets. For a detailed overview, please see http://groups.drupal.org/node/291293
2) Problem Solving: Please bring a question/issue you've ran across in the past month, or something cool/amazing they've discovered in the past month. If you have a specific, complex issue be prepared to stay a little later and be paired with an individual who can help you.

Search using Search API, Solr, Facet API, etc.

Bob Newby's picture

I have learned a great deal recently about implementing advanced search in Drupal using a combination of modules. These include, in part:

  • Search API
  • Search API Solr
  • Facet API
  • Facet API Pretty Paths
  • Search API Saved Searches
  • Views
  • Viewfield
  • Page Manager
  • Taxonomy

With these and other modules I have established a robust design pattern for implementing advanced search features in Drupal.

You can explore the pattern in action at https://luthierbuilttest.net/professionals/find. Please try it out prior to this Thursday's meeting. (If you want to check out the saved searches features, you can use the demo account with the username 'Drupalista' and the password 'Seacoast.dug'.)

I will be taking questions about this search design pattern at Thursday's meeting. I think this will be more effective than my "lecturing" about it.

Please come to the meeting with your questions in hand.

Thanks,

Bob
