We're excited to announce Exaltation of Larks' next mentored Drupal training. This brief training is from 12-3pm and uses the extensive Drupal video library at Build a Module.com. Bring your laptop, your lunch and learn Drupal!

We'll be focusing this time on Site Building and Advanced Site Building. Bring a WiFi-enabled computer that you can use to connect to the internet and watch videos on (and a set of headphones). Those without headphones can buy an inexpensive pair of headphones from the venue.

Registration

Registration is required. Sign up at http://www.larks.la/training

Be sure to arrive early to give yourself enough time to park, pick a seat, and connect your laptop to the venue's WiFi network. We begin promptly at 12pm.

Classroom space is limited, so sign up early.

Pricing

$30 per person.

No one will be turned away from this workshop. If you are unable to pay, you may be eligible for our Training Assistance Program.

We read every request for assistance but may not be able to respond to every one. We decide eligibility on a case by case basis. This offer may not be combined with any other discount.

About Mentored Training

What's the difference between this mentored training and the 3-hour lunch-and-learn Introduction to Drupal Workshop that we're offering next door at the same time?

In short, the 3-hour introductory workshop is better suited toward business owners and project managers. This mentored training is geared for folks who are interested in diving deeper into Drupal's systems and APIs, module or theme development or using popular contributed modules (e.g. Views, Rules, Features, etc.) for site building.

For more information about the mentored training concept and how it works, here's a summary from Chris Shattuck at Build a Module.com:

Unlike traditional workshops, instead of spending the full day in lectures, each student will work at their own pace through a set of comprehensive, focused training videos covering one or more of three broad areas of Drupal skill sets: Site Building, Module Development and Theming.

Experienced mentors will be available to help students answer questions on a one-on-one basis, work through sticky spots, or demonstrate additional examples to help clarify difficult concepts. By using video training instead of a live lecture model, students will be able to work at their own speed, pausing where they need to, replaying material they didn't get the first time around, and skipping material they're already familiar with. And instead of lecturing, the trainers will be free 100% of the time to help individuals through tricky spots or point them in the right direction.

If you've ever zoned out during a lecture and found yourself a little lost, or been frustrated that the short time available for questions gets taken up with discussion you're not interested in, this is the perfect environment for you. You can take breaks when you need, tackle exactly what you need to learn (or we'll help you figure out what that is) and get a lot of personal expert advice along the way.

All levels of experience with Drupal will come out of this workshop having made a huge step up the Drupal learning curve, guaranteed. Students will get a full week of access to all the training videos so that they can continue to review and expand their knowledge following the training.

Can I sign up for BAM in advance?

pkosenko's picture

I'd like to do it by signing up for Build a Module in advance having worked through some things before coming to the session. Does that make sense to you? I see that you are offering a week's access to training videos AFTER the session. Would it be possible to access them, say, from Wednesday to Wednesday or maybe sign up for a whole month of BAM, then just come to the Friday session to ask a few questions?

I was thinking of signing up for a month of BAM pretty soon anyway . . . on my own.

In any case, you can sign me up for mentored training.

Sure, feel free to sign up for Build a Module.com in advance. You can use coupon code BAMDROPLABS when you register to get a nice discount. (Droplabs currently does not get a kickback from this code.)

If you'd like to sign up for the Mentored Drupal Training, sign up for that at Exaltation of Larks' site:

Good morning, everyone. I just wanted to remind everyone that the mentored training is coming up in a few minutes and that it begins at 12noon.

Be sure to bring pair of headphones and anything else you need (laptop, tablet, power cables, etc.). If you don't have headphones, you can buy an inexpensive set from the venue.
