To satisfy the urgent need of having CKEditor into Drupal, we've just launched the CKEditor module. This is supposed to be the immediate upgrade solution for FCKeditor module users, a well as the current best option for those willing to have this editor into their Drupal sites.

We'll be now working on completing and stabilizing this first release.

Regarding the WYSIWYG module integration, we didn't see much activity in this sense so far. This new module was the fastest way to have the integration ready to be used. As soon as its first version is complete we'll move our focus to the WYSIWYG module, looking for providing CKEditor support on it as well.

Congrats...

Except that Wysiwyg module will soon (as in days) cleanly support both FCKeditor and CKeditor at the very same time. Potentially even on the very same page.

Again, TwoD could have used your help in http://drupal.org/node/462146, which is about to be committed.

We'll be joining soon

Don't take it to the heart sun. There is a large FCKeditor module use base that is willing to upgrade to CKEditor, maintaining the same set of module features. This new module come to satisfy their needs.

Those are good news regarding the WYSIWYG module support for CKEditor. We'll definitely join the effort soon.

Fantastic!

Fantastic because there's options to choose from AND references on how to install/configure - life is sweet in WYSIWYG Land for the users... which is the point isn't it?

I see nothing wrong with having several projects with different agendas that ultimately make the process of using Drupal easier and more productive. I also think it's wonderful that there are many "characters" in the development community that have the will to execute their vision rather than whine about those not following their plan. It's clear the CKEditor crew has their act together and is willing to put a little sweat behind their goals. Hats off to them for making it happen as well as adding some diplomacy into the mix as well.

My two cents... do with it as you see fit.
