I've messed with the OpenPublish for the past couple days.
I just removed from my server.
Changing the admin menu made things doubly difficult. I am accustomed to the Drupal administrator module (3rd party), which was in the earlier version.
I found it hard to navigate, just don't have time for relearning the admin menu structure with a totally different appearance, etc.
I'm not saying this is not a great addition, just think I'll spend my time doing the regular Drupal stuff, with which I'm familiar.
Maybe, when I get more time...
Good documents will help of course, but screencasts would be better.
Some of the modules I'm not familiar with and how they work in the scheme of things is also part of the problem for me.
I didn't get it working well enough to say... yea or nay, just don't have time for working through my issues with it.
I realize this kinda negative posting might not be necessary, but it might be valuable insight for you as you improve it.

I would also like to suggest
I would also like to suggest that the Slate theme should have drop-down menu-type navigation system. Otherwise, it takes at least 2 or 3 more clicks to go to somewhere as compared to the Administration Menu. I use Admin Menu on top of the Slate theme.

I started building a new site on my Wamp and thought...
What if the OpenPublish package could be delimited to only include the core and standard 3rd party modules.
By that I mean, if I build a site with all the modules from the Drupal projects first, then as I have full familiarity I apply the OpenPublish.
I'm not sure that can be done, since some modules may have been changed to facilitate the OpenPUblish. The dev would know that.
I think people have that
I think people have that freedom to do by just downloading the modules. But that will be too much of work.

Domineaux,
if you miss the old drop-down menu and are used to it, you can have it, again, in exactly five minutes.
Just download and install this module: http://drupal.org/project/admin_menu
Using Slate does not mean you can't still use the dropdown menu.

I use the combination of Admin_menu and Slate. Because Admin_menu helps navigate faster while slate helps me with scrolling less (see when you edit a node, you have the "save button" and all other most useful controls on your right. How nice! Thanks to the developers!)

You made a good point. I have reinstalled my application using OpenPublish.
I installed the admin menu and it is placed above the OpenPublish menu. LOL
To be very honest with you. I have been waiting patiently on two sites I planned for OpenPublish.
Jumping ship is definitely not a favorable choice.
I like too much about this application, but I am really stressed for time now.
Guess, I'll have to back off and work through the OpenPublish...working around current other projects.
One thing... I definitely appreciate your interest and responses on this groups.
Thanks for a good attitude and patience as well
Thanks to stattalk as well for responding on this thread
Gratitude, and realistic expectations
OpenPublish is an amazing app. Out of the box, this install gives you functionality that has taken countless person-hours, not to mention a large amount of technical expertise, to build.
To make this work for your exact use case will require some work. OpenPublish makes your work a whole lot more manageable, but expecting the app to do everything you want with no effort on your part is unrealistic. It will take time to learn how to use all of the features of this system, and that should be expected whenever you begin working with a powerful, flexible tool like OpenPublish.
So, Phase2 team: thanks for putting this out there! It rocks!
Cheers,
Bill

I have to agreed about the great support in this group and specially to Irakli and Stattalk!
Since the last week, I´m trying to install the OpenPublish (yes, it´s true, I couldn´t install the app yet...), but I believe that´s because I don´t have the needed knowledge to do it (but I have hope and I will not give up!).
Thanks to all!
Best regards
