Is there a step-by-step installation process for OpenPublish?
I tried, unsuccessfully, for a week to install at Godaddy.
After reading the forums and the opensourceopenminds website FAQ, I purchased space at pinchhost, which reportedly said they "easily" installed it.
Once again, I am having no luck.
Also, the installation guide stream cast at opensourceopenminds skips over the part of the installation that is difficult.
I am looking for a simple, step-by-step guide, so that at least I might figure out where the problem is.

Hey,
installing OP on a shared hosting is tricky, but PinchHost did say they were able to do it. Did you ask them to install it for you? I would do it if I were them. If they know how to do it and they can get you as customer by doing it - why not?

I installed on a shared hosting and it was very easy, no problemo.
First I went to webserver Cpanel.
I created a database in MySQL, a user in MySQL, and password. I applied the user to the database and gave full mysql permisions.
Then I created a folder on in public_html folder of webserver Cpanel (folder1) I then FTP everything "under OpenPublish" in extracted Zip file to folder1.
Then I pointed to mydomain.com/folder1/ - voila! the Druapl asked about MySql database names. I entered the database and user name with the prefix included.. mysite_datab, mysite_datauser,password.
I clicked the advanced tab and made sure it was local host, left out the port info, and entered the prefix mysite_
Then.. it was done and I was working with the admin of the site.
The modules and theme were even pre-selected and enabled.
domineaux, thanks for

I appreciate it
No matter what I try, OP doesn't work on Godaddy.
If it doesn't work on Godaddy, where I hoped to begin using OP to layout my newspaper's website, it won't work on register.com, either, I imagine.
And since register.com hosts our website, I won't be using OP.
Thanks for your help, but it looks as if OP isn't user-friendly enough for me at this point in time.

I would put the burden on Godaddy.
Make a support request and get them to install it for you.
Give them Login, etc. to do it. You can always change the logins later.
Make it a point you have tried many times... and you want to know what is WRONG with their server that it will not install properly.
Often shared hosting will turn off a bunch of things that screw the pooch.
