Drupal recently surpassed an impressive milestone according to project usage stats: a million sites live on the web around the world! Project usage stats under-report actual Drupal site numbers, because the site has to have the project update module installed and turned on in order to be counted. Not every Drupal site does and it's difficult to know how many don't. BUT, we can say with authority that Drupal sites have surpassed one million.

In recognition of this milestone, there will be an announcement Tuesday, including a press release that will be live on the web at 3am Eastern US time. Once the press release is live, it will be at this URL: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2014/03/prweb11630687.htm

Aside from the press release, there are other activities and content planned including press outreach, social media activity using the #milliondrupalsites hashtag on @DrupalAssoc, @Drupal and the Drupal Facebook page. We will be having some fun with several memes on the @DrupalAssoc Twitter handle.

There are materials you can reference in this folder: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B3tRsqnPV8eiU0R0eTAyeTYwZDA&usp=...

It includes:

-Press release
-A press pitch
-Press target list that I will be reaching out to
-Blog post for the Drupal Association blog
-Post for Drupal.org “News and Announcements”

If you want to help promote and join in the fun tomorrow you can:

-Tweet and retweet using the #milliondrupalsites hashtag
-Ask your company social media manager(s) to tweet a "congratulations" message from your company Twitter handle and/or company Facebook page
-Pitch press in your country (Again, I will be pitching to the list in the folder).
-Spread the word!

Thanks all and please let me know if you have questions!
