Agenda

Sounds like there's a great deal of interest in feeds, why don't we try a two parter each allotting 45 minutes?. Chris can give an overview of using feeds module as part 1, and then I can do an overview of basic feeds/Forena integration which can be used to suck data from other enterprise SQL based systems and create nodes out of them?
That would still give us 1/2 hour for other business?

That's one idea... any others?

Dave.

New Drupal User

Greetings,

I am so happy the Interagency of State Employed Women's (ICSEW) Vice Chair referred me to this new group. I am the webmaster for ICSEW and have embarked in unknown territory--moving from Dreamweaver to Drupal for our ICSEW website. I am looking forward to meeting everyone. -- Barb Ursini

How long do the meetings last?

This is only our second meeting, so I think we're still figuring that out. (I missed the first one due to illness.) We have the room reserved until 5pm.

I'm so excited about this!

Oh and a little PS followup.. For those who saw the forena feeds demo... we actually did create those report nodes, but they weren't published to the front page by default... When I went to do a content search they were there when I got home.... sigh ..... demos ;)

Good to hear! Hey I forgot to

Good to hear! Hey I forgot to review my Node Settings and didn't really run the Import :) so all good. Overall Great turn out and amazing to see all the potential for the group! Thanks David!

Great to see so many people!

According to my notes we had 19 people at the meetup on Friday!

Also according to my notes, here are some of the topics of interest for future gatherings:

Intro to Drupal
comparison to what people have already experienced (WordPress, static sites, etc)
Feeds
Maps & mapping
how people pick modules
taxonomy vs content type
Views
managing code (git etc)
development/production setups
User management options
report back on DrupalCon highlights (May meeting?)

Intro to Drupal

Thanks again for this Elaine. I would suggest logically it would be good to bring any new folks as up to speed as we can on an "Intro to Drupal". Just in the interest of building on that with more advanced topics. Maybe we could incorporate - how folks pick modules within that also.

Greetings Friends,

Unfortunately, I will need to withdrawal my membership from this group for the time being. My day job is quite demanding as of late and my supervisors are not supporting my attending this group right now. However, in the future I am hopeful I can return to the group. This is an invaluable group and I am glad it has formed. Blessings to all! -- Barb Ursini :)
