I will be there

slurpee's picture

Coachella, my favourite music festival which I attend ever year is the weekend of Drupalcon.

Flying out to LA a bit early to visit friends, camp at Joshua Tree, and attend Coachella. Monday morning I am flying from Palm Springs to San Francisco. Then going straight to Drupalcon :)

I'm going to Coachella too!

OldAccount's picture

We should meet up. :-)

We're stopping @ Joshua Tree beforehand as well, I've never been to either so I'm super excited!

Doug Vann will be there!

dougvann's picture

I'll be there for the three day DrupalCon AND all day for the Thursday Code Sprint. This will be my 3rd Con.
My employer www.DuoConsulting.com is sponsoring this year. 3 others from the office are coming.
I've proposed 3 sessions.
This year I'd like to hook up with people who have worked on Library and Law Firm websites.
I'll be at the The Renaissance Parc 55 Hotel BUT if you haven't booked your hotel yet, there were NO 2bed rooms left for Thursday night so we're changing rooms that night. [Get your rooms soon!] :-)
SEE YOU THERE!

Kevin and I will be staying

dudenhofer's picture

Kevin and I will be staying at the Mosser, it's about 2 blocks away. I'll be flying in Saturday around noon so I can hang out and go to the Unconference on Sunday. Kevin won't be coming in until Sunday, though. Anyone else going to be in town to hang out then?

Myself and my Brother will

cmcintosh's picture

Myself and my Brother will both be there at DrupalCon SF. We are still looking for a place to stay. Anyone know of any campgrounds close by to the venue, or even a bit further away from the venue, shoot me an email and let me know. Power would not be an issue as I have a portable solar panel kit for my electronic gear.

Also, I am coming from the South Western Indiana region, not sure if there a lot more from my part of the state, but Shooting it out there.

Not much convenient camping

mradcliffe's picture

There aren't really any campgrounds close by. If you're up for a long drive in traffic every morning and to pay lots for all-day parking... you can look farther down the peninsula (Half Moon Bay) or up in Marin county (Pt Reyes, Marin Headlands). Those are some beautiful places.

I saw some pretty good deals the other day on hotels downtown a block or so away from Moscone. Those are all for 1-Queen. I'm sure you could share a bed. The 2-Double rooms are all much higher.

Airport hotels are another option and didn't seem to be so bad. Walnut Creek/Concord is an option. Both of those options you could get a hotel close to a BART station and take the train to Powell station every morning. There are some other hotels scattered around the city proper and you can probably do a MUNI bus/train to downtown. If you're on California street you could always commute on the Cable Car every morning, which people actually do. Palo Alto may also be an option via Caltrain.

Avoid: West Oakland. Alameda is a good area, but it's secluded. El Cerrito/Richmond motels are pretty skanky. Berkeley hotels usually aren't conveniently located near BART. You really don't want to take Bus AND BART. South of Mission St west of Moscone.

Library/Educational Sites - SF - Coachella

partmapleleaf's picture

Hi all,

I wish I would have realized that Coachella was the following weekend, I hear it's a an amazing festival!

Otherwise, my company is sending 4 of us down to DrupalCon SF and we specialize in web development for educational institutions. Having said that, we have launched one library site http://www.northstudio.com/portfolio/north+vancouver+district+public+lib... and have another one in the works. By the time we launch the other site our company hopes to have a funky new site so stay tuned.

I know my coworker and I would enjoy talking about different IA approaches. Anyone?

.

mradcliffe's picture

There are a couple of library folk here in CODUG, but I don't they're going to DrupalCon.

Steve, my friend and boss, has done an educational portal so you may want to chat with him there. He's bounced around on a couple of different approaches.

Educational Portal

partmapleleaf's picture

How can I get in touch with Steve to find out more about the educational portal?

:)

Library sites

dooug's picture

I wish I had been able to work Coachella into my plans. Oh well.

I work for a Library website that recently migrated to Drupal in the last year. Maybe we'll cross paths in some BoF Library/Educational site discussions.

Were headed there

bigjim's picture

Hey Paul and I are going, we're both staying with friends. No proposals coming from us. :)

Me too

mradcliffe's picture

Me too. Substitute friends for family. Are you going to be in SF or commuting? I'll be taking BART from the east bay.

I'm staying in Noe Valley

bigjim's picture

I'm in the Bay Area (Noe Valley), I do't know about Paul.

You know it

Crell's picture

You know I'll be there, hopefully talking up a storm as usual. :-)

Brandon from Urbana, Illinois

bowersox's picture

OJC Technologies from Urbana, Illinois will be there. Hopefully I'll bring a crew again this year.

Steve from Milwaukee

At least I didn't wait unitll the last minute so I have a ticket for the conferance this year. I am going to be staying with friends in Redwood City so the commute will be a gas, Caltrain to the BART. Still need to figure out if ther are any pre conferance events of interest. San Fransico is such a neat city to visit.

Reprazent

eatings's picture

I, along with two other FM people (minimum) will be there. Staying in the city, at a hotel. Coming for the BoFs, staying thru the sprint and hanging out in SF for a while afterward. Visit family, see the Mothership, etc.

Will probably propose a BoF

eatings's picture

Will probably propose a BoF for museum collections people, as well.

Cool!

Crell's picture

I'll keep an eye out for it. I don't know if I'll be available but I'd love to be there for that.

yeah

Please vote for Mine and Brandon Morrison's Sessions :-)

dougvann's picture

Doug Vann and Brandon Morrison have submitted a total of 6 sessions for this year’s DrupalCon and, if you’re registered on SF2010.Drupal.org (free to register), it would be great if you would visit the site and vote for these presentations. DrupalCon presentations are determined by popular vote among those registered on SF2010.Drupal.org:

Doug Vann has four presentation proposals:

  • This years DrupalCon is featuring a much needed Beginner Track. Learn the basics, the terminology, and build a quick and easy blog site by attending: Beginning Drupal
  • After that it’s a natural progression to learn what you need to know about CCK in: CCK Demystified
  • Doug Vann is teaming up with Rain Brew to deliver a double dose of Views:  Views Demystified ONE and Views Demystified TWO
  • Taking a breather from the beginner track, you can jump in the deep end and spend some time getting familiar with the Linux Command Line! Get off of FTP and your web hosts chintzy control panel and do things quicker and more easily by attending: Linux Commands for Drupalers

Brandon Morrison will be presenting:

  • Doug Vann [Drupal Trainer, Consultant, Developer]
  • Synaptic Blue Inc. [President]

Tentative Session Schedule Posted!

mradcliffe's picture

The tentative schedule list has been posted at http://sf2010.drupal.org/conference/sessions.

Now to figure out how many of by bookmarked sessions conflict with each other. :( I've already found a few in Monday morning's first time slot.

Interesting to note is that although the Ubercart -> Drupal Commerce session made it the Ubercart Future one did not. Perhaps this shows the opinion of the majority of session voters?

i just registered for
