This users group is about 5 years old. I see that there are 123 members. Meanwhile, I bet we usually get at most 8 members at the monthly meetings.
I'm a member because I work for UMass, develop in Drupal, and want UMass to have a strong Drupal community. I attend probably every other meeting and appreciate it that the meetings are on-campus and occur during the work day (first Thursday of the month at 2pm.)
Can you tell us why you are member of this group and what would make you attend a users group meeting?

Hi Druderman, I joined the group a long time ago because I was so impressed with the Amhert Groups module and at the time I was working on a project which needed a very similar method of federating control over content by departments without creating lots of site administrators.
Sadly as I'm based in London, the only way I could attend a users' meeting would be if I was visiting on holiday :) :(

Aha! University of
Aha! University of Massachusetts Amherst is different from Amherst College which created Monster Menus. Amherst College is basically across the street from UMass. We have a friendly relationship.
For the Knowledge
I started at UMass back in 2013 and knew nothing about Drupal other than that it was a CMS. The first few meetings were WAY over my head but the more I worked in Drupal the easier they were to pick up on and add to.
The reasoning for coming remains the same, I want to hear what great tools and tricks are being utilized by others so that I can learn from them and possibly share some of my own knowledge.
I think it would be great if anyone who had a question would post it before the meeting to give everyone time to look into and research an appropriate answer that could be presented during the meeting.
For instance, I'd like to propose a discussion at the next users group that discusses the current themes that people plan on using in Drupal 8. We have been primarily using AdaptiveTheme but we want to consider alternatives for D8. If anyone has any working knowledge or suggestions about what makes some other themes particularly useful I'd love to hear them.

I graduated UMass Amherst in
I graduated UMass Amherst in 2003 and started using Drupal in 2008. I like to keep up with how UMass is using Drupal and visit the campus for the meetups.
Timing issue
I live in the area and have been developing with Drupal for a small non-profit for over seven years. I joined to get involved with the local Drupal community. Unfortunately, the time that the meetings take place is also when I am home with my 4 and 1 year old boys. One day I will get daycare and actually make the meeting.

Busy
I was a co-founder of the group, after attending the Western Mass meetings and recognizing that many UMass folks wanted a time during the work-day to meet for Drupal support. I would like to attend -- and perhaps will starting having more time to meet again.
