Would there be any interest in putting together a release party in Madison? How many people would we need to make a party? I'm willing to invest some resources in getting something going if we can reach a critical mass.

I'd go. I'm working almost exclusively with WordPress these days, but I still support the Drupal community.

Re: D8 Release Party in Madison?
That's the same night as the Madison PHP November meeting. Would there be any interest in combining those two events? Our scheduled talk topic is "Avoiding Common Database Pitfalls", so relatively relevant to both audiences:
http://www.meetup.com/madisonphp/events/224608947/
If anyone wanted to give a half-hour talk or something on Drupal 8 after the database talk, we would have time for that. The talk will be at Madison College, and we are planning on going over to Alt Brew after the meeting for a social time. Madison PHP could buy some pizzas and such. Last time we were there, we got Glass Nickel pizza.
Any interest in this?

+1 to party.
+1 to party.
Just a note that we did part
Just a note that we did part 1 of a demo on D8 at UW on Oct. 28 and the second part of the demo is planned for Nov. 20, the day after release:

So IMO, just party, not presenting. :)
I would like to go to a lunch party!
Depending on the time and day of the week, I may not be able to make it tho. crossing fingers
Not enough
I don't think we have enough people to do a release party in Madison. I'm planning on going to the Milwaukee party. It looks like that would be a great place to celebrate and hang with fellow Drupal folks.
Anyone want to just do a
Anyone want to just do a group dinner or drinks?
yes please dinner
I really need to talk with some Drupalites, I love the inspiration you people give me. Let me know of plans or anything.
Thank you
I'd be up for just dinner and
I'd be up for just dinner and drinks. No big whoop.

+1 for Dinner & Drinks
Yes. I think if we try and plan a larger party of some sort it makes it more difficult for people to be involved and attend. Let's just keep it simple and meet somewhere with elbow room for good food and drinks at a central spot downtown-ish. Does any have a favorite venue that would be a good spot for a dozen or so of us to meet up and talk Drupal?

Brocach? Essen Haus? Upstairs
Brocach? Essen Haus? Upstairs at High Noon Saloon?
Of those three I'd vote
Of those three I'd vote Brocach. Other options might be El Dorado or the downtown Great Dane.
Venue
My favorite is where we had dinner with Dries. Brocach on the square, parking can be a little wonky tho there some ramps. What night are we thinking? I could call and see if the upstairs is free, you can reserve the upstairs space for free ( I think they still do that).

Sounds good to me!

I think Brocach sounds cozy for our limited group... and I think 6:00 PM sounds like a good time?
Other votes for this venue? Is that a good time or should it be a bit earlier?
Does this sound like a get together evolving?

What day? I think if we set
What day? I think if we set the day and time, and then promote by reaching out to our contacts, we would for sure have a viable group. -JV
Need to book Brocach upper room asap
I went ahead and called Brocach (downtown) on the hunch that given the holidays that the upper room would book up and we wouldn't get in when we wanted. I called and right now for no charge we can reserve the upper room on either Thursday, Nov 19th or Friday, Nov 20th from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
We need to nail down the day and time asap if we want this venue for next week.

Standing invitation
A restaurant sounds like a nice venue for this, but FYI the NuCivic office is near downtown Madison, and we have enough room and tables to comfortably accommodate 20-30 people. Please consider this a standing invitation for anytime folks are interested in having a get-together such as a hackathon, planning meeting or social event related to Drupal, open source or related topics.
Our address is 100 S. Baldwin Street, Room 206, Madison, WI.

Friday the 20th seems
Friday the 20th seems promising to me. Might be able to cajole a couple other Drupal devs to join in.
Also, Hi!

Brocach (downtown) Friday, Nov 20th, 2015 @ 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM
So that is three, possibly four of us.
Can everyone please give a quick vote/comment on the following proposed venue, day and time:
How many of you can attend this venue at this day and time?
Brocach (downtown) Friday, Nov 20th, 2015 @ 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Will this work for the everyone?

Should we create a separate
Should we create a separate event post so we can use the signups? For less g.d.o spam. :)
Yeah! Let's start a clean
Yeah! Let's start a clean event post with the preferred date and time and see how many people sign up. -JV
I will be able to make that
I will be able to make that time.
Friday
I concur on Friday the 20th, its one of the few evenings I actually have free during the week. ;).
Friday
I could make Friday - and I work right next door to the Brocach :)
I can make it Friday,
I can make it Friday, November 20. But again, I think a dedicated event post would be best for clear communication. I would end this thread with a comment linking to the new event post that includes venue location, date, time, and other particulars.
Two cent,
JV

Once we have an idea of how many people are planning to go, we can finalize the reservation. Thanks Patrick and Saundra for looking into it!
