Hi,
I am totally new to OA and really flashed by the fascinating Opportunities it gives.
We are planning a new worldwide Social Network with it.
Therefore we also would like to integrate a Shopsystem inclusive a Donation-System into OA for many social projects we´d like to startup.
My question: Is it possible to integrate a give dsitribution like Ubercart or Commerce Marketplace? If so, ist there a proper way how to install it to the given and already installed OA Distribution?
Thanks for any answer advance.

Hi Andreas I never used
Hi Andreas
I never used ubercart or drupal commerce but generally i would say, drupal fits drupal! I helped somebody to bend RedHen for Open Atrium 2 and there was no problem at all. OA2 is build on panopoly so there is a lot of panels and panelizer magic. You would have to handle this, but in the end it makes it more flexible and easier.
I would use a standard OA2 install and integrate the shopsystem afterwards. You can easily try distributions on www.pantheon.io. Find the commerce plattform which fits your needs and check the distributions .make and .install files. They will tell you what the distribution is all about. Then you can decide which of the distributions modules you actually need and integrate them into OA2.

Leo
PS: There is an interesting project for combining install profiles but it's in a "proof-of-concept" state.
Hi Leo,
many thanks for your reply.
I will try to get it running however.
Thanks also for your great hints.

Commerce inside Open Atrium
I have installed the Drupal Commerce base modules into an Open Atrium and effectively created a possibility for having a shop system/marketplace within Atrium.
It only involved installing commerce modules and there were no noticeable problems, everything worked properly, but there might be some performance loss due to the number and complexity of the new models.
This was a proof-of-concept and we did not put work on a proper integration with Atrium groups, panels, workflows, etc. Would be interested to read about others experiences.
Commerce Marketplace? in OA
Hi gandhiano thx for your post.
You said you´ve installed Commerce Marketplace into OA?
I was looking for a long time for a proper running Marketplace (ebay etc.) Installation of the Commerce Modules/Distributions.
But I did not find anything. The Marketplace Dis for the Commerce Shopsystem is still not ready (as far as I know) and I did not get any support or answered question at all from the developer for nearly two years.
Do you have made other experiences? If so I would highly appreciate your comment and probably some advise what to do to get a Marketplace running on the Commerce Shopsystems because I would prefer the Commerce system to the Übercart.
Thank you anyway for your friendly help.
Andreas
Only commerce, no marketplace
No, I did not really use the Marketplace module - as you mentioned it doesn't seem mature, and maintenance/development seems to have been kind of abandonned.
However, depending on your requirements, I think you can build on top of commerce marketplace like functions, without relying on an additional module that seems unmaintained. Content types, Views and maybe Rules, may do the trick. Finding a way to associate payment processors to single users would then be the missing part, to allow transactions between different users in the platform.
If you are looking for alternative marketplaces you might also want to have a look at the Community Accounting modules
Kickstarter/crowdfunding on top of OpenAtrium
We've been looking to add kickstarter/crowdfunding type functionality so project owners could manage and sustain their projects. Slightly different funding model, but a good deal of the functionaly exists on this distro - https://www.drupal.org/project/redhen_raiser
A similar feature on top of OA/Panopoly would be some combo of Drupal Commerce and CiviCRM? Again, we're looking to provide a way to crowdfund open source projects... so an example would be if wanted to actually build and fund this type of feature.
Could we all be talking about a somewhat similar thing? If so, we should build it!

Redhen or CiviCRM
If you just want to have the functionality of redhen_raiser, why not rely on the Redhen modules used there themselves?
I also believe RedHen will be easier to integrate in OA than CiviCRM. CiviCRM is great, but can become relatively complex to setup and is rather adapted to Drupal than built from the Drupal framework.
I'm open to whatever works
My thought was that CiviCRM would be easier, but maybe that's not the case. I'm more interested having the feature available and am open to whatever is the best option...and whoever could build it. No idea what the time/cost would be, but if the functionality has value to the community, there should be ways to fund it.

Kickstarter for NGO:s
I am also looking for a solution for crowdsourcing / funding to help non-profit organizations.
Found this solution https://www.drupal.org/project/crowdfunding based on drupal commerce. Seems unfortunately not to be under active development.
Would be happy to assist with the development and/or financing of a suitable solution.
Best regards
Niklas
Seems like there's interest
Based on this thread, there seems to be interest in using, developing, and supporting such a feature. In Open Atrium terms, I'm not sure if this would be a feature or App... is there any documentation on how to build add-on features for Open Atrium? Funds willing, is there anybody interested in leading the development effort?
Should also point out that there's a crowdfunding effort called Snowball that could be complimentary.

Audience Engine
I recently came across Audience Engine, an open-source, customizable suite of fundraising tools. While their initial targets are content creators such as radio, tv, news, etc., their fundraising and donor management tools will be available as a stand-alone release and will provide the following functionality:
FUNDRAISING
Crowdfunding
One-Click Donations
Gift Inventory
Mini-Goals–>Overall Goal
On and Off-Site Donation Widgets
Peer to Peer Campaigns
DONOR MANAGEMENT
Civi-CRM
Email Management
Behavior Tracking and Analytics
Major Gift Research
Social Media Management
So integrating these tools into a Drupal module could be a viable option. Would anyone be interested in this?

Re: Audience Engine
I still needs the functionality so count me in...
But I dont know how much work it will be so its hard to say if it a viable option or not.
On https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Audience_Enginet it says that:
"The platform is being built in modular APIs that utilize JavaScript and XML feeds, but will include modules that integrate into Drupal"
On the http://www.audienceengine.net/#how-it-works it says:
"WordPress developers Joey Dehnert and Andrew Nealon at InsertCulture are building Audience Engine’s full web platform"
Will be able to integrate Audience Engine a couple ways
I've followed up with the Audience Engine team and subsequently attended a demo/qa of their platform. They are very much interested in having their tools integrated into Drupal and I want to help make that happen.
Hope to soon be following up with their team shortly to define project scope and then (ideally) match them with developers on the Drupal side.
Their hosted platform will most likely will be ready first, but we could use that and embed widgets into Open Atrium...possibly to help crowdfund integration into Drupal module(s).
I'll post updates when they happen. Anyone else interested in helping develop or sponsor, don't hesitate to chime in.

Interested in Audience Engine
Hi Gus.
I am very interested in Audience Engine as a tool to use with a community Radio Station that I am heavily involved with. We currently have a Drupal website (not Open Atrium though) which needs refreshing, so an integration between Open Atrium and Audience Engine would be of considerable interest to me.
I am happy to help with this effort, or possibly even find some sponsorship funding.

Already looking at integrating into radio and other media
Hi James,
I actually came across Audience Engine while researching possible integrations into Drupal solutions for radio stations and other media/content producers. For your specific need, this Station Module Requirements wiki would be a good place for you (and anyone else looking for that type of integration) to chime in.

Hi Gus. Thanks for pointing
Hi Gus.
Thanks for pointing me at those pages, and the discussion there. It looks like a good start for me.
